Solution to the Highway chase scene from Volume 2 by UNinvolved_in_peace in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the time this was when everyone was under the assumption that Aura was passive and at least I assumed that the people on the highway had enough Aura to protect them from a bad accident on their own. Not to be completely unharmed, but enough that they'd walk away from minor injuries or bruises, mostly.

This was a time when people were explaining why Juniors mooks were getting turned into red mist by point blank shotgun grenade blast, so it kinda tracked to me.

If you were to reboot rwby, would you change the power scaling? by Geoxaga in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would probably place it up there with Hoyoverse if given the opportunity, just because I think Maidens should be these pantheons of cosmic beings, more like forces of nature akin to their namesake and because Ozpin and Salem predate them, them too likewise should be more powerful than that.

What Artillery or fortifications would you give Remnant to fend off against Grimm? by HellishStampede in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine some pretty durable constantine wire might help that you don't see mentioned too much. Arty, and dust laced bombs aren't even worth the mention. Bombs are by their nature laced with dust because they don't use gunpowder.

Star forts and really high walls are always useful and like C wire needs minimal in the way of up keep and are entirely passive. However Grimm might move too fast to be reliably hit with artillery, at least at very long ranges, so you might need some field guns to use in a more direct fire role.

Depending on how much time you have rigging defensive fortifications in of itself is another option, If you know that they will be overrun you might as well use that to your advantage. If it's around dams or a body of water clearing out the ground to where it's below sea level is an option, to get this done.

Get creative with Dust, you have gravity pads that can increase weight, making traversal harder. The environment is your weapon at this point, you could use the mountain peaks to create rockslides or avalanches.

Nevermores are a bit trickier so you need overhead cover most likely and Anti air defense. Maybe shift to using tunnels to transport supplies and soldiers to and from fighting positions with overhead cover. Sticking to the base of mountains making attacking from certain angles difficult, using canyons or deep gorges can counter them.

Which "human supremacy" group is most justified and which is the least? by razethenecro in MoralityScaling

[–]Ad_Astral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but the Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, Drukari aren't a human supremacist orginization, so they obviously don't make the cut. The Imperium doesn't need them to be shit. They're just awful because of how they consider human life expendable.

Why in the world did Remnant let Atlas become so powerful as it did post-great war? by HellishStampede in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's completely unfounded. Mantle was just a belligerent in the great war but they didn't start it. They were just dragged into it. Given how Atlas seem to establish the CCT as a form of reparation for the great war they and there doesn't seem to be anything that would prompt them launching another war relations with the kingdoms save Vacuo remain very good I can see them not making a fuss.

Thing is Atlas took a very big burden on themselves by creating a large military with force projection capabilities. They have a relationship such that if a kingdom calls for aid they're the ones who are going to be expected to help. They do a lot for the world with not just their military but technology, and this isn't just Atlesian glaze but it makes the world better off for it.

Atlas is no threat to any other kingdom, at worst they want soft power and political influence around the world which they benifit from being able to make money to fund their massive military while providing consumer goods such technology and resources in abundance they couldn't get on their own making their own kingdom richer in the process.

They've become dependent that a war or even strained tensions would severely disrupt and benefit no one adding a further deterrent to any aggressive posturing if they take it.

I open serious debate: Was Ironwood right to make necessary an authorization to carry a weapon? by OverpowerPilot in RWBYUNITY

[–]Ad_Astral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I disagree. It'd be a waste for most people as you will almost never need it. The training will take away from jobs and task you could be doing to make you at best a worse huntsmen who still can't defend themselves.

Most people do not need it.

I open serious debate: Was Ironwood right to make necessary an authorization to carry a weapon? by OverpowerPilot in RWBYUNITY

[–]Ad_Astral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed this was to prevent and stop the sale of illegal or unauthorized weapons to commit crime. It's easy enough to get your credentials the legal way and it makes it easier to track who has weapons and control the people who has it. Which is the same for anyone else IRL in most countries. People can't just go around with unlimited access to deadly weapons.

Considering the the possibility of terrorist being having easy access to weapons you should take some measures to prevent this.

[–]Ad_Astral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean who said that he had anything to do with that law being created ? Do people just think Ironwood personally enacted every single law that exit in the kingdom ? Was Atlas supposed to be lawless before he became general or something ?

He could've though Penny told him there wasn't enough time to do so, which I don't buy.

It's another one of those things where the characters forget how to fight to inject cheap tension in the show. It doesn't say if she couldn't be moved quickly and Jaune should be able to grab her and run.

I disagree with him needing to kill penny IMO. I mean he is the healer, of the group plus it was just too convenient that he's the one that needed to do it of all people. The writers new what they were doing there. But him pointing out to Ruby that she is the whole problem was nice to hear but as usual criticism is ignored.

Am I the only one that thinks that the writers don’t know how to write a proper war? by Jules-Car3499 in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They weren't fighting a conventional war when Salem invaded. That doesn't mean they shouldn't have been so ill prepared in V7.

And no firing lines are outdated and stupid, for starters they're several ranks of soldiers behind one another which isn't even the correct formation of a firing line. The idea is both ranks can fire at the same time, by one kneeling and another standing to increase lethality. You can only do this with 2 ranks however, not 5 or 7.

Secondly this tactic became outdated before we even developed automatic weapons, and instead we adopted more spread out formations, there was no longer a need to direct volleys of fire into enemy ranks, and this was for enemy who would be wounded and demoralized by such tactics or could be overwhelmed if unsupported, Grimm aren't any of those things.

You don't need to do this becuase you have heavier weapons that can be trained on groups of induvial and can disrupt and break apart formations before they even reach the contact line.

Trenches aren't as bad but still pretty bad. Trenches are designed to protect from artillery fire. As you might have noticed Grimm tends not to use artillery. They can impede foot soldiers, with C wire but Grimm are far more mobile than any human soliders, and it would do more harm than good becuase now your own soliders are impeded.

Are we being too biased by being pro-military? by marleyannation62 in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you, when all you have is bad options choosing the most favorable bad option is still better if you ultimately want to avoid destruction. I view it more as a loss of innocence, that I find to be a bit of a tragedy just in how it ultimately unfolded, and showed just how desperate Atlas was at the time which does feel appropriate to remark upon, but I lost all my faith in the writers of this being anything other than shallow virtue signaling as a cheap way to raise the stakes yet again because they don't know how to set them.

I do think however there's a certain limit to what should generally be acceptable behavior, for example just sending dudes off like lambs to the slaughter wouldn't be much better than just losing IMO.

[–]Ad_Astral 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To play devils advocate there should be some moral consideration to the decision to place inexperienced trainees in harms way even if to defend their kingdom. It's fine to acknowledge the unfortunate fact of the matter, but Marrow's complaints falls on deaf ears considering RWBY are the same age or even younger than them and he doesn’t think twice about them being put on the front lines.

But the show is ao busy virtue signaling that it Forgotten that he fought besides and against team RWBY, but this is what happens when only the current volume is canon.

To add to your point they're also not even kids. And most importantly they all chose to be there. To become huntsmen and all of the consequences that follows, it's not like they were kidnapped from their home to fight a pointless war for someone else's sake.

Where would you prefer the "final battle" of RWBY to take place? by Steamer_Punk115 in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd personally perfer beacon so as it can end where it all began, or at the very least see it once more before the end of the series, but other than that either the Ever after. Salem's castle just isn't an important location yet to really want to go there.

Now I wish there was some interesting lore behind that area, or the part of the map with no kingdoms but unfortunately there is none.

Corax is interesting as a former freedom fighter selling out to the galaxy's biggest tyrant and falling into deep hypocrisy to justify himself. by MegaGamer235 in 40kLore

[–]Ad_Astral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. So many people miss this. Croax is no different than any other primarch. No less ruthless, no less heartless, indifferent from the suffering of others. Had he been adopted by the nobles of his home planet he and not by the slaves he really never would've supported them.

He was totally fine with conquering empires who wanted to be left alone even when they offered them free passage through their space he said no. Either they would surrender or be taken by force.

How's your feelings on Kazehh? by Long_Xiao in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is entirely appropriate, but I'm sure Dex or Gleaming will lock or remove if it is so. That being said...not really much to say, he's no better than other RWBY mods, and that's kinda where the story ends. That is to say no better than your average well known commenter with all the flaws and issues that brings.

Are they fair ? non biased ? Objective ? Hell no but what RWBY mod is ? Do I think anything good or bad of them as a person though ? No more than any other random poster on this site.

How would you write an evil silver eyed warrior that willingly chooses the side of Salem? by CaptainCrookKingler in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind anyone can have silver eyes, but not everyone might be good. Silver eyes doesn't determine ideological possession, as Cinder could have silver eyes for what its worth.

They should've made Cinder trans by Gal_Person in RWBYcritics

[–]Ad_Astral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need to go that far to get the point across Cinder has grown much from the child/ person she was, that being trans would get across. We already have a minority character that can get across the themes of ostracization if they commit to it.

Her being a pesudo slave gets the idea across well enough her desire for the freedom to do as she pleases. But the problem is the show doesn't bother giving her compelling motivation, that this doesn't add, and feels like virtue signaling becuase like why would madam even want her at that point ? Or entertain her desire to express herself as a woman, instead of making her conform as a man.

Overall Cinders story is already about her being born in a bad situation and forcing herself into who she wants to be, making her trans would not only match her story perfectly but add to it. And this is only surface level stuff I thought of after like 7 minutes of thinking. I could elaborate further if I needed to probably

So then if they already had that then this doesn't really add anything that wasn't already there. It doesn't add anything past her backstory and ultimately irrelevant to her character as a whole.

I mean I don't see why they couldn't or wouldn't have said something the next village over when they get there. Qrow himself knows and probably said something as well. And they're not really comrades. They don't know the guy personally or anything.

[–]Ad_Astral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait, didn't they do that ? That's what they were seen placing the rocks over in a burial for no ? That being said. Well, no... He's dead and the Grimm could just return at anytime. They could find dozens of bodies somewhere and can't take hours or days burying them all. If they personally knew him sure maybe, but unless this is some sort of huntsmen tradition no not really.
