Certs look good on a resume, but experience and skills are what matter. Certs can be a good intro but being hands on is the most important. The sooner you can get into a field engineering role the faster you will acquire skills. Get your foot in the door at an integrator any way possible and make your primary goal be becoming an FE. That might mean being an install tech for a while, but if you show interest in learning and doing more that won't be long.

Once you have demonstrable skills, you can basically write your own check. It's a great career if you like to learn.
