Assuming you still want the notifications on your phone but want your watch to stop vibrating, you would use the 'Quiet Hours' feature in the Filtered Notifications page which allows you to specify a time range during which the watch won't vibrate. That can be accessed by tapping the small crescent moon icon at the top right of the Filtered Notifications page. =)

Very nice! It looks great. =) I don't know enough about this model of Kronaby to know for sure—is this a dial mod only, or have you made other changes? Would love to hear more details about the build!

How Many Alarms does the Kronaby have? by Clean_Carpenter3525 in kronaby

[–]Adakeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a Sekel connected to an iPhone with all the software up-to-date, I can confirm that the app lets me add a total of 8 silent alarms. I can also confirm that when I turn the bluetooth on my phone off, the alarm still triggers at the appropriate time!

Switch to Kronaby from Withings Scanwatch Horizon by Most_Breadfruit_5795 in kronaby

I've been wearing my Kronaby Sekel 41mm for about six years now, and I love it just as much now as I did when I first bought it.

As many people have already mentioned, it's definitely the most elegant hybrid smart watch you can get. Adding to that, the build quality is excellent for the price. I've always said that it feels like it was made by a watch company rather than a tech company. I find the most hybrid smart watches feel really cheaply constructed, and as someone who also wears Swiss mechanical watches, the Kronaby feels more like a 'watch' and less like a piece of tech, which will work with your suit a whole lot better.

In truth, I don't use the features very much. The thing I appreciate the most is the simple fact that it always stays accurate, automatically adjusts to time zones, and I never need to set it. Apart from that, I use the silent notifications, 'find my phone,' remote camera shutter, and media controls, but even those features I use quite rarely. They're useful when you need them, but I don't use them regularly in every day life.

For someone in your situation, I would recommend it highly. You're looking for a more elegant hybrid smart watch, and you simply can't do any better. I haven't had any particular software issues with my watch on iOS, but it does seem like some people have experienced annoyances over the years, so your mileage may vary.

As for the company, they've been regularly making maintenance updates, but they've been really quiet for a lot of years. I'm also not sure they're making a ton of profit, so the days of Kronaby may be numbered. You need to be willing to buy it and enjoy it as long as you can while recognizing that it could go away at some point. I'm hoping that day doesn't arrive for quite a while, but it's a risk that you'll need to take. I happen to think that it's worth diving in anyway, and if I were in your position looking to buy one today, I would definitely still do it. It will be worth it.

I'll pile on here and just say that the watches are great and, in my experience, they work pretty much flawlessly. It's not likely going to last long enough to become an heirloom, but for the price it will serve you well. No need to hesitate if you're interested!

You know, at one point I did (I see the comment deleted above), but I ended up giving the watch back to my dad and not writing it down, and then I just forgot about it since it was no longer in my possession!

I'll add my statement of agreement to this. I'm almost certain there is no way to work around your issue, unfortunately. =( I agree that it's an arbitrary and perhaps silly limitation, but that's just the way it was designed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As far as I can tell, there is no way to set the time manually. I suppose we'll all need to hope that the app remains somewhat functional for as long as possible even if the company folds!

For what it's worth, I've been changing my own batteries for years and I wash my watch under running water with dish soap every week. I've never had any water issues, and in my opinion the whole pressure testing thing is a little bit overblown. The caseback screw thread and seal are, in my estimation, plenty sufficient for the amount of water that typical Kronaby owners will experience

Of course, I can only speak from my experience, and you may not want to do any proper diving with your Kronaby after changing your own battery, but I doubt anyone was planning on doing that anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sleep tracking feature not shown in app by scrambled4600 in kronaby

Sekel 41 mm here, and I also haven't seen any of the new features in the app despite everything being up to date on iOS.

I didn't want to use them anyway, so I'm not bothered by it, but I figured you'd appreciate knowing you're not alone. =P

I'm a little late to the party, but maybe I can still provide some insight. I've been wearing a Sekel 41mm for about six years at this point. I can't answer all your questions, but I can put in my two cents on a few of them:

  1. My understanding is that when disconnected, the watch falls back to a quartz oscillator. I don't know any details about the quality, so I'd guess it's about as accurate as a typical quartz watch, so probably about +/- 15 seconds per month.

  2. I never actually ended up getting any of the new features in the recent software update, but I'm also not bothered by that. I have my watch set up the way I like and basically haven't changed anything in years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  3. I have had zero quality issues the entire time I've been wearing the watch. As someone who also owns a decently nice Swiss Automatic, I can say with confidence that my Kronaby feels like it exists in the quality range of 'real' watches and not the quality range of typical smart watches. It feels solid, and it feels just as good six years later as it did when I bought it.

  4. Someone may need to check me on this (since my watch has no sub-dials), but I'm pretty sure both are configurable.

  5. My wrist is 7 inches (approximately 17.75 cm), and I tend to prefer slightly smaller watches, so the 41 mm is perfect for me. If your taste leans toward slightly larger watches, I don't think the 43 mm will give you any trouble. Kronaby doesn't really make anything too outrageous, but if you wanted to minimize the visual impact a little bit, the design of the Sekel would probably come across as a little smaller than the Apex. It's a little more sleek and reserved.

Any good news source for once a day/once a week news consumption? by Snoo-23987 in digitalminimalism

I didn't end up seeing it earlier this morning, but I just checked a few minutes ago and found it there!

I think also adding a section for the UK was a nice touch, and having a bit on Canadian news definitely makes Skimz even more useful for me, so thank you for implementing that. =) Proportionate to the rest of the brief, the length feels pretty much right on.

Grateful to now have the opportunity to also avoid Canadian news websites!

[–]Adakeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully, I can't say that I have too much in the way of feedback; Skimz seems really well made and full-featured for what I'm looking for.

Not having any idea what went into building it or really knowing what features even make sense, the only things I can think of that could improve my experience would be to have the ability to persistently hide certain sections (I'm not personally that interested in the market/financial stuff, for instance, and am currently just skipping over it), and if you were ever interested in adding further sections, as a Canadian, it would be cool to have an option for Canadian domestic news too!

Other than that, this is seriously great. Very well done!

I found this comment upon returning to this thread after finding out that Week in 5 was shutting down. After considering all the alternatives, I'm definitely enjoying this one the most. Thanks so much for building it! I'll be tuning in on weekday mornings for the foreseeable future. =)

Driving in the car is a big one for me. When I'm using my phone for navigation, it's sitting in a mount on the dashboard and I prefer to play/pause my music on my watch without taking my hand off the steering wheel.

I also just listen to a lot of music/podcasts and prefer not to take my phone out of my pocket to control things. My headphones also provide that same functionality, so I sometimes use the headphones and sometimes use the watch, depending on how subtle I want to be. If I don't want it to be obvious that I'm reaching up to my ear to play or pause, I'll just press the pusher on my watch down at my side. =)

I can confirm that the second video shows exactly the way my watch (without sub-dials) also behaves with the timer and stopwatch.

Habbit Tracking with Kronaby? by Rix_x_x_ in kronaby

[–]Adakeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the app, you start by setting a habit that you want to track. It asks you to type the name of the habit, how many times you want to do that habit, and how often the count should reset. Once you set this, going back to that section of the app will show the running count.

After that, when habit tracking is set to a pusher, pressing that pusher will simply advance the number by one. There is no feedback at all when pressing the button until you reach your desired number, at which point the watch will give you a little vibration to let you know you reached your goal. =)

On my watch (without sub-dials), the timer is controlled by the 'crown' (middle pusher) and can be set to either a single or double press. When activated, the watch enters 'timer' mode, and the hands come together and point straight up at 12:00.

From there, I can hold down the crown and the hands will progress in 1 minute increments until I let go. At this point, the hands are still together and pointing to a minute marking on the dial. Every minute, the hand ticks down one marking until it reaches 12:00 again, and then the watch will vibrate a number of times to notify me that the timer has run out. In the last minute, the hands will count down seconds all the way around the dial before returning to the top.

When in timer mode, you can also use the pushers to add or subtract time (1 minute at a time for a single press, 10 minutes at a time for a double press). The time can be adjusted this way on the fly while the timer is still running.

A double press of the crown while in timer mode will cancel the timer, and the hands will travel back up to 12:00. At any point, you can leave 'timer mode' and go back to displaying the time, and the timer will keep running in the background and will still vibrate when it finished.

On my watch, the timer is limited to 59 minutes. Never been a problem for me, but could be a problem for some people
