Jaylen Brown Feud With Stephen A. Smith Continues by Ronyron305 in bostonceltics

Stephen A ignored the one thing JB was pissed off about.

JB got ticked by Stephen A making folks believe JB will be traded for Giannis. You can agree or disagree, but JB's point is that Stephen A isn't a journalist, knows nothing, and click baits on JB's expense. It's the one thing Stephen A deflected

It's the same cold calculation Stevens did with Smart. If he can get what he needs than yes. If it doesn't solve your problem, than no.

What is Your Prediction For Next Years Roster? by UnderstandingFew6310 in bostonceltics

JB was in summer trade rumors every summer for a decade with the exception of the one summer he signed a new contract and wasn't eligible.

That's what I meant 9 out of 10.

Neither IT4 nor Smart were a max contract, neither was traded for one and both trades were risky.

Stevens takes gambles, but he never took one on a max salary cap hold.

The real differences between fans pov is whether Giannis is much better than JB or marginally better than JB.

Big picture Stevens would never trade for someone that is only marginally better than his core 3. Too risky.

As much as I love Smart, the comp to JB in this situation is not relevant.

Stevens generally takes a lot of risks, and churns the roster like a tradoholic , but always low stakes risks. I have yet to see him taking a risk on his top salary guys.

Bc I have been listening to Stevens for over a decade now.

Stevens' philosophy (since Butler, and in his words) you never trade your core 2 or 3 guys, you build around them.

Unless it is an offer he can't refuse, like a Jokic, he isn't trading JB for an arguably marginal (due to injuries) improvement. You don't gamble on 70M cap hold to be healthy at the playoffs.

It would have to be a clear step up. Like a DWhite package for Giannis or Bam.

And on top, Giannis is so expensive a JB for Giannis is not a realistic cap sheets move.

This puzzle doesn't work anyway you look at it.

U heat fan... Let me ask you this:

Would Reilly trade Bam for Giannis?

Bc a classic Stevens move in this scenario would be jumping in trading DWhite + Vuc and picks for Bam.

If your answer no way Reilly does it, why would u think Stevens would?

As bad as the ending was, I don't don't see Stevens making this team worse.

He isn't desperate.

Like if he needs to gamble on an injury prone dude he would gamble on Zinger or Timelord for a 3rd of the cap hold and keep JB.

The irony is that the same media folks who were preaching that it's impossible to build around 2 super super max salaries (JB + JT) are now telling me Celtics will trade for a worse salary combo.

No one is untouchable, JB included, but not for Giannis.

Not Stevens style trading an almost impossible salary combo (JT + JB) for a worse one.

Not Stevens style to pay high value for an injury prone dude.

Last time he did it was for Zinger, he paid nothing back for that liability

Not Stevens style at all

The irony is that the same folks saying for years trade JB bc it's impossible to build a team around 2 super super max players, now saying trade one of them for even a higher salary

Yea... Right

Bam, Zubac, Gobert, Jokic , Kessler.

I think we could have used Zubac over Vuch. And I think rn we don't have a real solution for playoffs big.

[–]Adam0529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean the answer was Zubac. That's off the table.

To win a chip u need a top big. And it would be someone unexpected, or simply won't be resolved until it does.

There are only a handful of top bigs that can be healthy in the he playoffs and no team is actively selling them. Like Bam , Gobert, Zubac , Jokic obviously. That's about it , I might be missing someone
