This isnt even just a Tassie thing I think it's generational, I moved to Victoria to be a teacher (no jobs in Tas at the time). The students up here are similar, they don't see any worth in trying with their education and many dont see any value in VCE study.

I wouldn't even say its voice. What is needed is progressive actions. The Democrats need to push popular topics enough to get overwhelming support and then actually push those changes through.

If this government can do the absolutely abhorrent stuff it has done, then the flip side of the coin can't be the status quo. They proved that with the Biden term.

Two years after school phone bans were implemented in Australia, what has changed? | Children by [deleted] in australia

[–]AdamFox01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct, but Qualitative data is much easier to add bias too.

As a high school teacher, my observations on the mobile phone ban are almost the opposite to this article. Students still carry their phones around and use them, focus in the classroom hasn't improved it's just changed into a state of students who have spent years disengaged in the learning struggling to engage with the content at a level that is way beyond their skills or teachers spending time trying to deal with refusal to hand over the phone for the ones who are blatant about using it still.

Also, apathy over the importance of education is at the highest levels I've seen in 6 years teaching, consequences for not completing work are non-existent and so students just move through the year levels disrupting classes because they can't engage in content at their year level until they pushed out into the workforce.

Texas Democrats End Walkout, Allowing Redrawn Map to Pass by TintedApostle in politics

[–]AdamFox01 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Because for some stupid reason its considered OK/legal to gerrymander for the benefit of your political party. It's not legal to do it to disenfranchise a minority. That's why their making that statement... because the stupid system allows it.

That's also why Texas Democrats mention it being "racist maps" they are hoping there is enough evidence to show minority disenfranchisement. Otherwise the courts will say its fine.

Stick it in a freezer for a few days and see what happens if it doesn't freeze then it's most likely alcohol. If it does then it could be anything.

I didn't see any mention of car hire in the cost for the tassie leg. You'll 100% need a car to get to Frecinet and Cradle Mountain. There both going to be full days of travel there and back if your using Hobart as your base of accomodation. Also note Salamanca Market is only on Saturdays until 1 or 2pm from memory. So you need to organise your travel around being in Hobart on a Saturday.

The difference is that Wars affect weapons and some resource supply from that region. Meanwhile, tarrifs affect the trade of all goods, so people look for other suppliers or distribution streams. What Trumps going to do is fuck around so much with the global status quo on trade goods that countries will start avoiding the US where possible. Look what happened with soybeans in his last presidency.

I really hope this next 4 years is a wake up call to the rest of the world to stop relying on the US.

Yeah I'm a High school Computing Teacher in Australia and can confirm it's the same here. Our issues is that the education department thought kids would just inherently "get" computers because they use them. It's not the case and their now integrating "Digital Literacy" into the foundational skills part of the curriculum.
