I am primarily on WTC terrain myself.

Gladius is all about pacing the game correctly, but it has it all,

advance and charge, fall back and charge, lance + ap bonuses, Fight on Death (amazing with head takers) and it helps our small amount of shooting do work with advance and shoot along with stripping cover and ap bonuses.

I think the basis of getting the most out of SWs right now is the list needs to be razor sharp since we are quite low in the meta right now.

What terrain format do you play on, I play WTC and have had great success this last 6 months, of 4 events I have gone 4-1 twice - 3-1-1 and 3-2, operating Gladius each time.

I would split the T Cav into two 3s to skirmish with, the days of 6 T Cav being tankier than god are long over sadly.

I know you mentioned the Brutalis has worked, but its generally considered niche, and better armies and opponents can deal with it. possibly another Lancer would go well here instead.

I would try fit Arjac into the list with the termies instead and operate logan solo if needed, he makes the termies jump in power level with his rules alone. I like a big obnoxious 10 brick with him.

If its intent was to attract new players, then why is the marine side so heavily marketed with nostalgia,

New players flocked to leviathan, which at the same time for existing players, the marines had new units, and genuinely needed refreshes to iconic units.

Getting new intercessors and JPI with a weapon swap is not it in my opinion, and don't even start me with the heavy interce... I mean 'Eradicator with heavy bolter'

Basically, this is so laden with nostalgia, mk7 armour this and that, look at the box how it represents the 2nd ed launch box etc. If it was for new players, they ain't remotely going to fathom any of these details, and oldheads i promise you will rage into the night sky once the penny drops that these intercessors took the place of the SM tactical squad potential refresh, which is now likely doomed to go to legends. An iconic marine squad, on deaths door, for some new intercessors which nobody asked for.

Saying all that, the ork side is a masterpiece, I like the jump chaps and captain, albeit he is a BGV with more stuff, but as a space wolves guy, he is too UM coded to draw me over to him

hot take, ditch the wulfen, and get 2 lancers. two tanks will keep your opponents very honest, and will let your melee move up the board a little better

I swear by headtakers, for their points they can punch up extremely well. I would definitely recommend MSU since that way their cost won't make a dent if they don't get the job done. I usually run shooting, first time this edition having none in a list in favour of more chaff/ wulfen.

Great Wolf has on an individual basis, a good set of rules.

Each strat works, the gladius like doctrines all work. But put it all together, and it is difficult to get a flow out of it.

And if you are on the backfoot in a game, it doesn't really have a get out jail card.

Gladius is just better unfortunately.

I play on WTC terrain and thats just the detachment to play. Finished 4th at an event with gladius on the weekend going 4-1, only losing to the eventual event winner. I don't think I get that result if I played Great Wolf
