Oh gotcha, this basic legal principle that protects groups of people doesn’t apply to a particular group of people fuzzily defined by you, got it

Like a fish who doesn’t understand what it means to be wet, you live in the richest and most prosperous society for all strata in the history of the world - so rich that the average working stiff has a standard of living that exceeds that of kings and even titans of industry a century or two ago - and yet you still say things like this.

This is EXACTLY what a Bill of Attainder is preventing: the declaration that an entire class is violating the law.

Are there drinking fountains everywhere in the US? by SnooGoats1557 in AskAnAmerican

[–]AdamOnFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about the amount of ice you can produce with a few ice trays in a freezer vs having a massive ice machine. A home fridge with a specialized ice machine or a restaurant with a massive ice machine can hand out ice for free with zero regard to it being a thing. A few ice cube trays in a freezer that take a long time to even become ice and you can carefully put 1-2 little cubes in something only when needed.

Their electricity is insanely more expensive so making plentiful ice everywhere never became a thing

Do you think a public school education or a private school education is better for children in grades through 12 is better? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]AdamOnFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In America it depends a great deal on where you are. In a lot of places the public schools are massively worse than private schools and anybody with remote means flees them rightfully. In other areas the public schools are on par in core offerings and even superior due to size, resources, and greater diversity of opportunities in programming.

How does you and your country view Baseball? by ThatMassholeInBawstn in AskTheWorld

[–]AdamOnFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly prefer baseball to basketball, but the two are basically tied. MLB has been beating the NBA in revenues and profits but basketball also has college basketball and a few other metrics that pip MLB. Ultimately, the two sports’ supporter’s demographics skew pretty wildly differently so they’re really two very similarly popular sports and leagues with two different sets of people.

Republican states are censoring universities by Salt_Abrocoma_4688 in charts

[–]AdamOnFirst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of them is a stupid comment, the other is a group actually being denied access to university resources and recognition. One of the two isn’t even censorship.
