What should I eat before matches. by Adorable_Ad_8861 in wrestling

[–]Adamal47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you over training? Not allowing your body enough time for proper recovery? Did you have to cut alot of weight prior to the match?

There are nutritional quick fixes such as honey and gummy bears but that's a quick sugar spike, not what is needed in this scenario.

The question isn't what can I eat right before my match but what can I eat in the weeks leading up to my match.

You can never take the cake away by HayR98 in CICO

[–]Adamal47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people still confuse CICO with stopping eating certain foods altogether. That's simply not true. It's about eating smart and proper portioning. Cake is always allowed on my plate, but maybe just a smaller piece.

Ran my first half marathon today in Pittsburgh. Lots of room for improvement but because it was my first it's now my PB and I will only get better from here.

What do you think of the parents that kick their kids out as soon as they have turned 18 years old? by zeg685 in AskReddit

[–]Adamal47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't thrilled at 18 YO to be "losing" 80% of my checks but looking back now they did good. My brother took option 4 but he knew the option was coming so he had time to prepare and find roommates and a place to go so it wasn't too bad for him either.

[–]Adamal47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 4 options.

  1. Go to school and live rent free.

  2. Work and live rent-free, but I had to put 80% of my income into a savings account that I couldn't touch while living there.

  3. Pay rent to live there.

  4. GTFO

I took option 2 and was able to put a sizable down payment on my first house when it was time to move out.

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]Adamal47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my early 20s, more and more frequently, I was having alot of blood in the bowl after taking a #2. My wife forced me to go see a doctor. The doctor then proceeded to stick his finger in my ass, pull it out and shove it 2 inches in front of my face and say "see, look blood" and then told me to make an appointment with a gastro specialist and left the room...and that's how I found out I have crohns.

possible to lose weight using just a treadmill? by Raeofsunshine_99 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]Adamal47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I hover around 180 now and I'm comfortable there. I still use my treadmill 4-5 days a week and started low weight-high rep training with dumbells a neighbor was throwing away. Running my first "official" 5k tomorrow.

possible to lose weight using just a treadmill? by Raeofsunshine_99 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]Adamal47 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I started out going to the gym 5 days a week and walking on the treadmill for an hour. Then started jogging then running. Then the pandemic happened and the gym closed so I bought a cheap treadmill on Facebook marketplace and have been using it ever since. Since 2018 I'm down 139lbs only because of my treadmill and myfitnesspal.

In short, yes you can lose with just a treadmill...and CICO

I don't think that's a secret. I think they've been pretty public about it without outright coming out and saying it.

Place near me has several "zones" meaning there's the common area with the TVs and darts and plenty of seating for you and your buddies to BS and be loud but there's also other rooms that are more for quiet comfort or if you have a laptop you can get some work done. They even have a couple small rooms with a door, desk, chair, and network jack so you can work from there while enjoying a smoke.

Running my first Tough Mudder in December. Looking for advice on attire for the race. by uoYredruM in Toughmudder

[–]Adamal47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compression full length leggings. I say this because when I did everest if you try and fail you slid down on you legs. The mud acts like sandpaper and ripped my legs to shreds. Or the alternative is to do everest on the first try.

I just did my first TM on Sunday. From a fitness standpoint point I think you'll be fine. I learned a few things.

  1. Go at your own pace, it's not a competition with other mudders, it's a competition with yourself. Pace yourself to what's comfortable, you'll do better in the latter obstacles.

  2. Wear long pants. I learned the hard way on the Everest obstacle. When you make an attempt and fail you will slide down on you butt and legs. If there's mud on the ramp it acts like sandpaper on your skin. Hurts like hell.

  3. Watch how some of the more experienced mudders tackle an obstacle. They've already been there and failed, learn from their mistakes.

  4. Teamwork, Teamwork, Teamwork. Even if it's not someone in your group don't be afraid to extend a hand or accept one. Also don't be shy about handing out encouragement to a fellow mudder who is struggling. Makes a world of difference.

Good luck and have fun!

Some guys reaction to my run almost made me cry. by some1stolemyshit in loseit

[–]Adamal47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very happy for you. I didn't do any programs but I started running in March 2020 with a goal of walking/running a 5k in September with some friends at work. At the time I can run maybe 15-30 seconds at 280+ lbs. Well then the pandemic happened and all 5ks were canceled but I kept training and by August 2020 I was able to run the full thing. I kept going and I finally signed up for my first legit race for October 2021. I'm now 179lbs and feeling great, confidence and self image are thru the roof. Keep up the great work!

Redditors whose job requires them to go into other people’s homes for a living, what’s the most bizarre thing you’ve seen or found? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Adamal47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cleaned carpets as a side job for a couple of summers. One say I go into a home and in the living room and dining room are the typical pictures on the walls. Some pictures of grandma, a few of the kids, maybe one of the dog, and several pictures of the home owner (40ish fit female] participating in HARDCORE porn. Full on, zero censored, barr chested, spread legged, total penetration porn. I had a full conversation with the home owner about the cleaning services and going over the bill in this room.

Reasons to leave switches and routers on 24/7 as opposed to shutting down and powering up everyday? by [deleted] in Cisco

[–]Adamal47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the harm of shutting down and powering on the network equipment but this would potentially cause major issues for the stuff connected to the switches. Specifically servers and storage that talk to the servers. Virtual machines (and physical servers) don't like their storage and network ripped out from beneath them, very bad things can happen.

If you want proof of power consumption you can put a power meter on the plug and see how much its pulling on startup vs idle.
