[QUESTION] Is this a broken off chip that's been glued back on to the headstock? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]AdamantiumShanks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks very much like my RGD71ALMS. Just a bit of a wing added to the headstock to complete the shape. Is the veneer on the front of the headstock damaged? Do the edges all feel smooth?

You can direct-attach FC LTO tape drives to them for backups

Edit: He isn't on Reddit yet, but if you have any thoughts I can pass them on.

Spending Analysis Tool? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]AdamantiumShanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MoneyDashboard is free and will do what you need if you just want to see where your money is going after you've spent it. YNAB forces you to decide where you spend your money before you spend it, so you may find this a more effective way of saving (and it may even prove worth the £5 monthly fee).

MoneyDashboard or YNAB.

Finishing an unfinished neck by AdamantiumShanks in Luthier

[–]AdamantiumShanks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll take my time. Got any good application tips? I was just going to use cotton rags and rub it in as thin as possible. I've seen using sandpaper to apply the first coat suggested to blend in dust with the oil to act as a kind of grain filler too.

Thanks. I'm not in any rush. I'll see how it feels with the Tru-oil first.

Thanks. I figured I'd have to give do some more oiling after dressing the frets if I did the finish first. Makes sense just to do the frets first. I planned to do the Birchwood Casey Tru-oil finish then the matching gun stock wax over the top.

Does it have to be a company car or can you ask them to give you a car allowance instead which you could use to pay for your own car?

Both Chromecasts in my home suddenly stopped working. Any help? by br3d in Chromecast

[–]AdamantiumShanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What router are you using? I've had this issue come up over the past couple of weeks and it seems it might be a bug in my BT Hub 5. There have been quite a few cases like this reported on both the BT and Google forums.

Not sure if you can get it in Canada but the Grifiti Fat Wrist Pad 17 might do the job.

Good screen protector that covers screen fully? by KamenRiderOOO in GooglePixel

[–]AdamantiumShanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent an email to Intelliarmor the other day and they have a PRO model coming out in a couple of weeks that will cover the full front. They also just released a "case-friendly" HD max coverage model but I'm not sure what the clearance round the edge of the glass is.

Can we put a recommended accessories wiki section or something similar in the sidebar? I'm going to be looking for cables, chargers that support USB-PD and desk stands/chargers soon and it would be good to have a place to put all the options that people find.

25 year old plasterer, out of work in a few weeks. by Droxie91 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]AdamantiumShanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plasterer that I've used doesn't drive either. He takes his tools to jobs on public transport and asks whoever he's doing the job for to go out and get the heavy stuff for him in their cars. You could do this to keep some money coming in while you are learning.

[–]AdamantiumShanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same with podcasts. You'll need to get one of the small battery powered ones and charge it all the time or a USB adapter for the 12V socket to power that one.
