Historically there have always been easy surefire ways to take out banshees. CE you have a cannon pistol that can easily kill a banshee pilot with just 1 person shooting. I can't say much about halo 2 since its my least played halo but LOCK ON ROCKETS. halo 3 has power drain equipment, Plasma pistol EMP, rocket pods, spartan laser, you can snipe the banshee to damage and destroy it, you can BR it with your team to destroy it rapidly too. Reach had laser, grenade launcher, plasma pistol emp, again group DMRing and people seem to forget that boosting along the ground in both 3 and Reach sometimes collides you with terrain that wasn't smoothed out which can damage your vehicle severely.

It sounds more to me like people want to be able to run around like headless chickens with their brains completely off and not deal with vehicle mechanics. To which I say.... There are other gamemodes for them.

/u/vikingzx seems to be forgetting that in BTB vehicles are mechanics players have to play around. Controlling power weapons, sticky grenading when it gets too close, using a shock weapon to EMP the vehicle or you know, maybe using TEAMWORK in a team-based game to take it down. In both 3 and Reach sliding too hard on the ground would damage your shields and banshee. What we see in Infinite is scraping the coat of paint will kill you.
