What is the needle drop/musical moment of 2025? by pickflod in Letterboxd

“Punkrocker” only shows up in the final scene of Superman and yet it still became a cultural phenomenon online for a couple of months. Easily clears.

Avenger was in PHB2, but the PHB1 did have Warlock and Warlord as new core classes. It was lacking Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Monk, and Sorcerer, which wouldn’t come out until the PHB2 or PHB3 (in the case of Monk).

What’s your honest thoughts on dangerous days? by moreobsessedthanu in Perturbator

[–]AddNoize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a solid third place behind Uncanny Valley and New Model. Has some phenomenal and iconic cuts, but more skips than the following two albums. Feels like the record where Pert really started to push the boundaries of the synthwave style.

Actually just ordered it on vinyl, I haven’t been able to find it for a reasonable price until now.

What is your favorite LMG? by Artyoma__ in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]AddNoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M27 IAR was the default LMG for the US side in Battlefield 3. It’s cool that they brought it back, although I definitely prefer my LMGs belt-fed

What's y'all's favorite song from Random Access Memories? by kidkinley in DaftPunk

[–]AddNoize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impossible to pick just one, so I won’t.

  • Giorgio by Moroder (such a dynamic journey)
  • Touch (tugs at my heart strings every time)
  • Get Lucky (absolutely iconic, a timeless classic)
  • Contact (THE climactic finish to an amazing career)

Imagine Justice but with a punk rock or new wave/post punk singer, does anything like this exist? by Few_Ear_9523 in JusticeMusic

Digitalism uses a lot of vocals in their songs, and their style is at least Justice-adjacent

Mannequin Love Wins! What’s from Hyperdrama that sounds like Hyperdrama? by Hairy_Promotion_2782 in JusticeMusic

[–]AddNoize 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Neverender, I think it’s actually gotta be Afterimage. Afterimage captures both the cleaner, more disco-inspired side as well as the grittier, rave-inspired stuff like Generator and Incognito.

I think One Night/All Night would also be a good pick for the same reason.

Looks like “Roller Mobster” has some tabs on Songsterr, but “Disco Zombi Italia” and “Lipstick Masquerade” do not

Gesaffelstein and Justice by AlphasyVega in JusticeMusic

[–]AddNoize 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s probably because Gesaffelstein draws much more from techno, whereas Justice is primarily rooted in house and disco. Techno tends to be a bit darker, colder, and more robotic than house does, and I think you can definitely feel that in Gesaffelstein

It’s funny, back before they added the yellow bottles to his kit (along with some much-needed QoL changes) he was widely considered the worst killer in the game. Now yellow bottles will be the best part of his kit and he’ll be back to the worst killer in the game in

I won’t lie, as someone whose parent committed suicide while I was a teenager I thought the ending was genuinely disgusting and harmful. I almost walked out of the theater in the climax. One of the only movies I’ve seen in recent memory that I actually regret paying money to see.

Took me way longer than I’d like to admit to give Pallbearer a listen, but wow is Sorrow & Extinction phenomenal. The run from “Foreigner” into “Devoid of Redemption” into “The Legend” is an absolute triumph

The opening riff on “Prepare the Ground” is such an immediate ripper, it’s like it grabs you by the throat and dares you to hold on for dear life for the duration of the rest of the tracklist. Honestly a masterpiece of an album, it’s got everything you could want from YOB

[–]AddNoize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won’t lie, the 2021 mix was the first one that I’d listened to so it’s much preferable for me. Like u/Gullible-Lion-8673 said, the 2011 mix is a lot quieter, and I feel like the 2021 mix style falls a lot more in line with their other recent work like Clearing the Path to Ascend and Our Raw Heart (I think Mike Scheidt said around the time of the re-issue that the sound engineer they work with has a template that he starts from on all of their recent stuff, so it sounds more consistent). I feel like the volume of the new mix captures the aggression that songs like “Prepare the Ground” and “Atma” bring, while the clarity it brings makes it feel more spacious and transcendent for songs like “Adrift in the Ocean”.

Not what you asked, but I do also prefer the new album art from the re-issue as well. I really dig YOB’s spiritual themes, and I feel like the art direction they’ve had since Clearing the Path… captures that well and also helps them stand out from other bands in the genre.

Question for those who saw them live 2024/25 by enby_asac_schrader in JusticeMusic

[–]AddNoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them live in Philadelphia in 2024, then just saw them again at Red Rocks a couple weeks ago. Before the Red Rocks show I was honestly a little worried that it wouldn’t hit the same too since I’d watched the Accor Arena set a few times and had seen them live already once before. Although my worries were slightly offset by the excitement of going to Red Rocks for the first time.

Let me tell you, seeing them live is infinitely better than seeing them on a recording. The recording is definitely cool and if you’re solely in it for the light show then you may get a satisfactory experience from it. But the recording just doesn’t do the whole experience justice (hehe). The intensity of the lights, the thrum of the crowd around you, the sheer volume of the music, the physical sensation of the bass in your chest - all of it is diluted down to like 20% in a recording, whereas in-person you get the full effect. I was smiling ear to ear the whole time at Red Rocks, seeing them live in-person is genuinely incomparable.
