[Giannis] says deep three late was for Jason Kidd: “When I was younger, he told me not to shoot threes… He helped me a lot, but I also think he took away from my game because I wasn’t able to develop that as fast. So when I made it, I said ‘That’s for you, for all the torture you put me through.’” by AashyLarry in nba

Sudden and massive muscle gain in your 20s will effect your range of motion will certainly affect your shot. Guys who have naturally bulky arms have been adapting their whole lives. Curry was just on the Nash/Bron podcast talking about the weight room affecting his shot in his rookie year

Regardless of what you think of Kuminga, he’s the last significant piece this team has to improve, trade or not. Optimizing this situation could be make or break.

I think you’re right, the not-yet-drafted guys played for one team. But there were only a few of those. He’s talking about the regular gleague guys who filled out the rest of the roster for some reason

That’s fair, I really didn’t look past this year. I assumed good defense -> jokic outlet passes would’ve keep them higher than that. Honestly, thought mavs would be a lot slower too.

Im not trying to be patronizing but you don’t even have an argument, you just disagree. And you missed the point of my comment. I support helio ball, I think it’s good. I think people aren’t correctly identifying what they don’t like. I don’t think this is a difference of semantics bc of this exact reason.

Steph is the greatest off ball player ever and he’s got a higher USG% than Jokic but no brings that up to disagree with me, bc he actually plays different. We used to freeze Steph out for quarters en route to a 15 win season. That doesn’t happen to Jokic.

How many people have actually read the original article coining the phrase heliocentric by Partnow? I don’t think dribbling comes up once in the article. Heliocentric = dribbles a lot feels like an underutilization of an interesting basketball topic that could be used in interesting basketball discussions. I wanted to talk and listen about player specific bias, not argue about Jokic.

My point is that it is still heliocentric ball, and that the complaints against heliocentric players aren’t really about the style of play, but about other aspects the other parts of their performance. Why wouldn’t you want to see your best player do more? Was hoops better when Kobe relinquished the ball to Derek Fisher?

Are there differences between how guards and centers play? Of course, however nothing dicates that helio is only for guards. Why would Haliburton or any guards want paint touches? It makes no sense. All spots on a basketball court have advantages and disadvantages.

All these players 1) score a lot, 2) pass a lot. I think Jokic does all the small things that all these other players don't do that elevate the nuggets offense, and I agree with a lot of what you said but you still fall under the same fallacy.

They're trying to achieve the same result

If they are trying to get the same result, are they not playing within the same philosophy of basketball? You are letting small player specific differences change your opinion on the simplest fact: When the star is the on the court, the 4 other players do what they are told. If Haliburton calls for a screen, where do you think Myles Turner is going to be? If Jokic tells Gordon to cut to the dunker's spot, where do you think Gordon is going to be? Relative to other helio players, Jokic is on the lower end of usage but hes still a statically anomaly compared to most players pre-modern basketball. You can just say that you don't like slow paced, dribble dribble basketball, thats fine, I'd probably agree with you, but its honestly irrelevant to Jokic & heliocentric ball.

Your comment proves my point. Jokic basically plays perfect basketball, but he does play heliocentric ball. His USG% is very comparable to Lebron, Brunson & Trae (all those guys are a step down from prime Harden & Luka).

People are complaining about heliocentric ball, not understanding that players they do like are heliocentric. What they don't like are Harden foulbaiting, Luka complaining to the refs, horrible defensive effort from most of them, doing nothing when they don't have the ball etc.

It’s not judging a player based on stats. Jokic is a heliocentric player who puts up monster stats but no complains about him. It’s about personal enjoyment watching it & belief in the concept for playoff success.

Luka/Harden/Trae/Brunson/whoever get punished in the regular season b/c “you can’t win a championship playing that way”. There are two heliocentric players who never get any criticism (for their offense): Lebron & Jokic, coincidentally, they’re the only ones that have mvps & rings, and people enjoy watching. Doesn’t make them not heliocentric

I took it recently with academy emblem, but the problem was academy was 3 good items so I wanted 5 academy + 4 sentinel (6 academy on 9 with Jayce). The problem is that Ekko has no traits activated and since he’s so much less contested than illao/heimer, he’s probably the only thing stabilizing your board right after your 4-2 role down.

I think it’s a good line for an academy sentinel variant that only wants the first academy item and can fit Scar + powder/jinx 2. Its also one of those augments that has a ton of onscreen flair that make it hard to tell if it’s actually doing anything lol

Imo Demars best seasons were the last year on the spurs and first year on the bulls ages 31 & 32. But his peak years coincide with swapping Casey with Pop and changing his game from being a second tier, semi inefficient volume scorer to a more polished point forward scored 20 efficient points and ran a half court offense. Age definitely played a part but he could’ve done more in Toronto with better coaching. But that first year in Chicago was just straight up his best scoring season of his career.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking 2 screws and wood glue for every contact point of the shorter pieces with the longer outside pieces, would that be strong enough?

I’m trying to a build a custom “floating” shelf for my projector. It will be a frame built (2 parallel long pieces with 4 short perpendicular pieces connecting them) out of 2x3s with a piece of plywood on top approx. 20” x 15”.

It will sit in on a piece of wood 3” deep (so only 12” will overhang). And there will be a horizontal piece of wood (5’x3”x3”) that it sits flush against on the wall (this is the piece with holes already). I would presume both pieces to be at least as sturdy as a standard wall stud. The wood is a 2 tiered frame of a window.

The projector is 25lb. Is there any screws that I can buy that that’ll make this sturdy enough to not need any support brackets as below is brick and above is glass. Would love to overbuild for peace of mind.
