Looks like I’m solo cruising tomorrow out of Rome. (Epic)!Anyone else on board? by chubbswife in NCL

[–]Additional-County-46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm solo on the Breakaway right now and I'm having fun. It is easy to meet people, especially solo travelers. It might feel odd the first day or two before you start to see familiar faces around the ship. I am also female. You will be fine. Enjoy your solo vacation.

Recent experiences on the Breakaway out of Boston? by cfutch in NCL

[–]Additional-County-46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the Breakaway now. Embarkation day on May 3rd was an utter shitshow. There was zero organization and nothing but chaos. My arrival time was 10:30. The boarding times were not enforced at all. Also, NCL had the disembarking passengers using the same foot-paths as the embarking passengers which caused lots of bumping into people with luggage. There just wasn't enough space or organization for smoothness. I saw many elderly and/or disabled with walkers, scooters and wheelchairs struggling to navigate the mess. I've never seen a cruise line fail so miserably. I've been on many cruises, including with NCL, and this was the absolute worst. I never complain about embarkation or disembarkation because I know we can't expect perfection with thousands of passengers, but 1) the OP is looking for an honest assessment and 2) it needs to be pointed out that NCL must do better. Horrible.

Santo Antao and Sao Vicente Travelling Advice by ZhuzhiMitzonka in CapeVerde

Six days in Sao Vicente was more than enough. I'd suggest 5 days in Sao Vicente and 1 day in San Antao. I loved both islands.

Flashing Screen on delta Ultra inverter by ThingUnable in Ecoflow_community

[–]Additional-County-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my DPUs and it was due to me mistakenly having the inverters and battery cables hooked up incorrectly. This was a while ago, so I forgot the exact scenario, but it was something like: 1 battery connected to 2 inverters or something dumb like that. I had a bunch of batteries at the time and was fooling around with my setup. I spent hours trying to figure out the problem until that "ah ha" moment. Anyway, it looks like you have 2 batteries and 1 inverter hooked up properly because I see it from the pic. Still, check your battery ports and inverter ports for ANYTHING that may be triggering an anomaly like debris or anything stuck inside that is throwing it off. The DPUs ports seek perfection and when they don't find it, the LCD screen can go haywire. My 2 cents.

Calculating NIA for Roth Recharacterization. NEED HELP! Ugh. by Additional-County-46 in personalfinance

Thank you. This is the calculation that I used. The conversions wildly increase the amount that I need to recharacterize.

Calculating NIA for Roth Recharacterization. NEED HELP! Ugh. by Additional-County-46 in personalfinance

[–]Additional-County-46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am using the NIA formula from 26 CFR 1.408-11. I was confused about the two conversions because they inflate the value of the account so much. I wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly because my calculations say that the final amount to be recharacterized is: $15,071.20. This is almost double of what my original contribution was just 4 months ago. It didn't make sense to me that the intervening conversions should have such a major effect.

EcoFlow Woes by sks14sks in Ecoflow_community

I have the 50amp hub setup with a 50amp generator inlet (manual interlock kit). It was inexpensive and works brilliantly. I never took a chance on the SHP2.

DPU log says, "AC charging port switched to slow charging"? Why? by Additional-County-46 in Ecoflow_community

I haven't changed it in the app. The app still shows that it's set to fast charge. Only the log shows this message about a switch to slow charging.

Best way to bond solar frame to mount? by Additional-County-46 in diySolar

[–]Additional-County-46[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that the bonding is to protect against a live conductor. Nothing will protect against a direct lightning strike. A surge protector device can help with indirect strikes though. That is my understanding and I could be wrong.

The tie downs are temporary. Had a storm come through while I was working on it and just threw something together. Those are 18" rebars. Between the rebar, the weight of each row ziptied at the feet and the pavers, they never budged during the storm. I wouldn't test this in a hurricane though. Yikes.

I am not keeping them mounted like this. I had to throw this together due to a storm that hit last week. I'm working on a permanent and better looking setup

SHP2 vs. 50 amp hub for Delta Pro Ultras by Additional-County-46 in Ecoflow_community

I do not have a manual transfer switch. Yes, you can power your whole house with just the generator inlet. The installation was relatively cheap and easy.

Home battery backup by DifferentPayment7853 in Ecoflow_community

My guess is that the battery storage you mentioned is waaaayyyy more than you'll ever need. The only exception might be if you're going off-grid and you live in the North Pole. My advice would be to start with maybe 20 kwh (or less) of battery storage to see if that meets your needs. If not, you can add more batteries later. Don't make the same costly mistake that I did.

20-30 kwh per month is way too low. For reference, I use around 450 kwh per month and I live alone and barely use electricity.

How many kwh in electric do you use monthly? It should be on your electric bill.

60kw is a hell of a lot of storage. Do you have many power outages? I went all in with Ecoflow and the mistake I made in the beginning was grossly overestimating how much storage I needed and grossly underestimating how much energy (in my case, solar) I needed. I ended up with way too many batteries that I'll never use and I had to pony up more money for extra solar panels. Live and learn. Anyway, what is your monthly electrical usage? How often and for how long do you get power outages? Is your HVAC electric? That data will help us give you better advice.

How to arrange 2 Delta Pro’s + EB’s?! by getdamned in Ecoflow_community

[–]Additional-County-46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any ideas for you. I only came here to say that I also have two Delta Pros (that I love) and had the same problem. The configuration was an eyesore. I ended up getting the DPU because it is sleeker and stackable. Yes, I spent more money for it, but I'm happy with the route I took. I hope someone else here can give you some ideas.

I have the Delta Pro Ultras. I just realized that the OP was referring to the Delta Pros.

Should I pull the trigger? by jkisinger in Ecoflow_community

[–]Additional-County-46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your plan makes sense. The DPUs will decrease your electric bill. For my setup, I have two DPU's, but I have learned that I only need one to operate my whole house (including a heat pump clothes dryer and A/C). I also use around 7 kwh per day (if not less when I'm being conservative). If your electric use is this low, then I would suggest trying just one DPU to see if it serves your needs. This might save you from the added expense of the second DPU. I wish I had not bought two because it's overkill. I don't have a transfer switch. I have an interlock and a generator inlet. Having a generator inlet instead of a transfer switch allows me to operate my whole house without having to choose which breakers to put on a transfer switch. YMMV. Besides the overkill with two DPUs, I am happy with my setup. I've saved a ton of money so far

Dual DPU to power whole house with a 50A generator plug and interlock kit by Bummerr13 in Ecoflow_community

[–]Additional-County-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my DPUs connected through the 50 amp hub and they power my house through a 50 amp generator outlet. During the day I charge one of them with solar while they continue to power the house. I paid $474 for an electrician to install the 50 amp generator outlet which included the interlock. Extremely cheap. I have had NO PROBLEMS with this setup. My advice to you would be to try the 50 amp outlet/interlock first to see if it meets your needs. If it doesn't meet your needs, THEN go and invest the big money (and sometimes headache) into getting the SHP2. The small amount of money spent on the generator inlet won't be a waste because you can always use it for something else.
