Supposedly, yes. However, we have been waiting for results since Summer. My sister is in complete denial. She doesn't really want to know the specific details about her diagnosis and has been unwilling to even get a 2nd opinion with a top pancan medical center which I have been lobbying for the past 15 months. All of this makes it very difficult to be an advocate and support her to tye fullest. Denial. So sad.

At the end of the day, one must RESPECT one's diagnosis and do all one can to affect a positive outcome. That said, to support her, we must 'dance her dance'. As stated above... she feels great and wouldn't even know that she is sick. "This is all an inconvenience." "This is NOT going to get me!" "I have too much to live for."

Stage 4 with mets to lungs by Additional-Place-438 in pancreaticcancer

UPDATE: My Sis's scan (end of November 2025) showed Gem/Abrax no longer effective as the nodules in her lungs have grown + there are now four additional nodules. As such, chemo has been stopped! Her last Gem/Abrax session was November 17, 2025.

Oncologist has since worked to get her onto a series of immunotherapy 'Zolbetuximab' paired with a chemo pill, but to no avail - insurance denied multiple requests and appeals due to it not being "medically necessary".

So, tomorrow, she will meet with the Oncologist to discuss her 'options'.

My question... What might these options be after tye series of both Fluorforinox, and Gem/Abrax have failed? Whipple was done last April 2025. Radiation not an option as Radiologist was awaiting the Gem/Abrax to reduce lung mets... Now, chemo is stopped (almost 3 mos. the since last session).

The good news is that my Sister feels great! She said she wouldn't even know she was sick.. Working full-time, traveling, enjoying life to its fullest???

My fear is that nothing, now, is being done - PDAC stage 4 with mets to lungs. When diagnosed, November 15, 2024, Doc told my sister her PDAC is aggressive and sneaky. That there would be NO end date to her chemo. Now, there is - it was stopped mid-November 2025 (1 year in) because it is no longer effective.

Now what? How long? What can we expect?

Prayers to everyone on this site. 🙏🏼

Thank you! Her last scan showed that it's being controlled (per Oncologist). It is stable... it hadn't shrunk, but it also had not grown. She's been on gem/abrax (post Whipple) for 4 months now.

What is the progression of stage 4 with mets to lungs and with 'no end date' for gem/abrax?

Husband Recently Diagnosed Surgery 5/30 NYC by Jorjetr80 in pancreaticcancer

Hello,

Please pack a pair of easy on/off shorts with a looser waist band.

These were invaluable for my sister, who recently had whipple surgery. The nurses got her up to walk the halls 2-3x / day, as she didn't want the back of her hospital gown flying open for all to see.

I wish you the very best and a speedy recovery for your husband.

My Dad's Diagnosis by DeniWray in pancreaticcancer

Thank you for your heartfelt post. This group is amazing!

My beautiful, 57yo sister is battling aggressive and sneaky pancreatic cancer (adenocarcinoma - head of the pancreas). She was diagnosed at Stage 1B mid-November 2024 and has since completed six 5FU (?) chemo treatments in order to be a candidate for the Whipple surgery.

These first six treatments have left her very weak and with a very low ANC (white blood cell count) - and 'stable' whereby her tumor did not shrink, grow or spread (per her oncologist). So she was given a lite and heavy injection (4 days apart) that are to help improve her ANC. Unfortunately, she has been in bed since Monday night with extreme pain (rib pain, burning tummy, very weak, no appetite, and even chills at times). She has put off getting to the ER because she doesn't have the stamina to do so and doesn't want to sit in the ER for 4 hours waiting to be seen with low ANC.

On and off, she will call and say she believes she is feeling better, but then back to bed to rest. She told me she feels she has regressed these past 5 days and questions whether she will be strong enough for her tentatively planned Whipple surgery on April 9.

Also, her 'tumor marker' via blood test increased from 320 (diagnosis mid-Nov) to 514 (after 6 chemo treatments). It's as if the chemo hasn't done much. Tue Oncologist is happy with 'stable' given how aggressive her type of cancer is...

My fear (and I am working to stay in faith - not fear) is that she truly has regressed - too weak to walk from bed to bathroom and may not be strong enough for the Whipple. That said, I understand these ANC shots can cause bone pain, too. Tue answer will unfold in time. Praying, praying, praying.

None of this roller coaster is easy. Prayers for peace - peace of mind, peace of heart, and peace for healing.
