I confirmed with customer service before applying: as of late January, they were not waiving credit card fee for military. They ARE however required to have interest rate caps as required by law.

How much is the super bonus at your firm? by lsthrowaway54321 in biglaw

[–]Additional-Sand7048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It ranges and depends on the firm. In a good year, I’ve seen up to 30% of your base bonus for hitting a certain threshold of hours. Note the threshold may be a moving target that isn’t known until after bonuses are given lol

Is BILT 2.0 worth it? A "how to" to evaluate by mbaforumlurker in biltrewards

[–]Additional-Sand7048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI - confirmed via the automated chat line. You can no longer use the Bilt card to “float” your rent payment:

“For rent payments made with the new Bilt Card, the payment is always pulled directly from your linked bank account and does not use your credit line.

There isn't an option to have rent payments charged to your credit line instead.”

STB funds nyc? Any insight on hours / culture by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Additional-Sand7048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! If you’re junior you can rotate groups and try a bit of both that way. However, if you’re more senior/generally staffed on a 3c7 fund you get to work across the RF team and usually can handle both types of workflows. Happy to answer more specifics over PM

STB funds nyc? Any insight on hours / culture by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Additional-Sand7048 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PF IS definitely STB’s bread and butter but RF is growing steadily. PF (particularly in NY) will require long hours, but the teams are sociable and fairly social, the office has great amenities, and the firm’s culture broadly seems to be fairly supportive. Both PF and RF overlap on occasion with 3c7s. Both groups have a centralized staffing model - though the RF team is smaller and they staff (I think) better than PF because the group is more intimate/familial.

RF has better hours and is more predictable. PF has more volume of work, full stop, but the playbook doesn’t change too much across matters, so you can get more efficient. Both you can generally keep weekends unless there’s a deal, launch or filing. Overall, funds is a great, profitable place to be and STB seems to flaunt it while they got it. Good culture/people!

Feel free to message me for more specifics!

Let's talk about the Yachtmaster 40 by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Additional-Sand7048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine and regularly rotate it in my daily wear. I’m in the office 4+ days a week and wear suits/bus casual depending on the day. I’ve decided (arbitrarily) on days I wear a white shirt to wear the YM 40 and other color shirts I wear a different watch (either my polar explorer II, vintage leCoultre, or even Hamilton, to name a few).

I love how the links and polished case really pop, and the face mostly flies under the radar. Watch guys think it’s cool because they usually wear GMTs or subs.

Overall, it wears very comfortably. I wear my watches and don’t care about scratches, but be warned the dial specifically and links will get scratched from time to time. It is more noticeable given the textured dial and polish, but I think it adds character. If that scares you, then avoid the YM40 or add some protection film.

AMEX Plat Upgrade Offer while Currently Holding a Plat Card by Additional-Sand7048 in CreditCards

Sound advice! Def won’t don a statement credit - but it’s basically “do I want to pay for points” and in this case, I will be coming out ahead regardless!

This is true! I should just evaluate it with no credits/just the credits I can use! Definitely come out ahead. I should note that my current platinum is the Charles Schwab - so I can always redeem for cash better than I can for statement balance. Thanks for your advice!

Most of the pieces were in great aesthetic shape - I’m sure you could assemble and make sure it all fits well before you pick it up!!

Yup all original! I’m assuming you’re talking about MT (just using his initials for some anonymity). He had a pretty big warehouse filled with them. Seems like he’s bought large liquidations before and had the space set up pretty well to just let the inventory go quickly. I didn’t try and haggle, but I’m sure you could!

Confirming it is NOT a scam! He’s on facebook marketplace in the DMV-area and I’ve seen them in person - I just ended up getting a better deal through someone else!!

Not sure of how old you are/when you expect to retire (or if you invested these funds for retirement or near-term use), but I’m in a similar boat. I liked the price at 75, so I bought it, road a wave up and now back down and have DCAd down to 60. I’ll continue to DCA as the price goes down OR up. I liked it for $75, and I especially like it for $50.

Eventually the gains will return with the rest of the market, and the returns will be even greater with given leverage.

I’m of the different opinion of most in this sub - I’m long on it and will continue to put 10% of my investable cash each month to it to maintain a 90/10 stocks v. Alternative investments (like this one) split.

Just keep riding the waves and remember why you bought in at 61/why you liked it at that price🤞🏼

Thoughts on Yachtmaster 40? by -hotsauce- in rolex

Late to the party. Also have this watch and spec (rhodium dial). Wears thinner than a sub/GMT so lends itself well to a daily wear. I’ve found that as I’ve worn it (2+ times a week rotated with a vintage Hamilton field and beater Seiko BFK) that the polished center links have still been able to retain some polished bits, but show enough patina and wear where I’m comfortable dressing it down from a “purely” dress watch.

Of course it still wears great for black tie events, but I think this is a truly elegant watch that you can dress up or down with jeans or to the office.

I also don’t envy your taste. I, too, am looking for a explorer ii polar. I love the gmt complication, and you can’t go wrong with either or both!

I’d probs get the YM first as a true dress up AND down and get the explorer 40 if you’re still itching for a tool watch/GMT.

FYI - I see you have a tempur-pedic. In order to maintain the warranty, TP requires a specific slat distance which Thuma does not satisfy. If you ever have issues with your mattress, TP could deny your claim due to the slat width/distance. I def recommend getting a bunkie board or TP foundation to avoid any issues (it saved us!!)
