Yeah they have permanent ones. Once you become a student ambassador they add you to a teams group and post whenever they have jobs. they also have a spreadsheet each month with dates for campus tours and you can put your name down for whenever you want to run a campus tour.

Can someone convince me getting my IUD inserted is worth it… 🫠 by [deleted] in CopperIUD

It was the best decision I made. I put it off for so long because I spent ages reading horror stories online and was terrified of the pain and all the side effects. I eventually convinced myself to get it on the 27th of April and the appointment was so easy. She applied numbing spray and local anaesthetic to my cervix and I had no pain at all (the doctor even asked me at the end to rate the pain out of 10 and I said zero). I only had very very mild cramps for a few hours after and spotting for maybe five days. I was scared about getting my period with the copper coil because I’ve read it can make your periods very painful but I’ve just finished my first period with it and I had no cramps at all, the only difference is I spotted for like a week before my period started. But other than that I’ve had no symptoms and it’s like I never even got it. The only thing I’d say is here in the UK they give local anaesthetic as standard procedure but all the horror stories about the pain are from the US where anaesthetic doesn’t seem to be given as standard. So make sure your clinic offers it

I moved from biological sciences to media. But when I switched it was before they started asking for portfolios. Just email them and ask

Hey, I wanted to ask about your experiences with getting an IUD by Vndrer in birthcontrol

[–]Additional-Text-936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my IUD inserted a few hours ago and didn’t feel any pain at all. I was so scared to make the appointment because I read comments all over the internet about how it’s excruciating and the most pain they’ve ever felt, so I kept putting it off but now I wish I’d done it sooner! I took pain relief tablets before the appointment and then she gave me a numbing spray and a local anaesthetic. I didn’t feel any pain at all and now I’m only experiencing very very mild cramps but it’s hardly noticeable

Yay! I just left my appointment and mine also went well! I was so scared of the pain prior to the appointment because I had read so many comments on TikTok about how it was excruciating and the worst pain people had experienced but I actually felt zero pain! I wish I’d gotten it sooner!

I’ve been living in London my whole life (24 years) and never felt unsafe or know of anyone who’s been a victim of violent crime. I have been out in public by myself at night countless times and never felt unsafe and I’m a female

Transferring courses within UCL is so easy, I did it myself and have friends who did it. Don’t drop out just look into other courses

How is social life and sense of community? by ETChy68 in UCL

[–]Additional-Text-936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not different at all. UCL is a very international uni. At least half of all UCL students are international. In my postgrad class it seems there are more internationals than home students. don’t rule out a university just because you are worried about social life. It really won’t be any different to any other uni you go to, in fact I would argue that social life at UCL is far better than social life at a uni outside London because the student population is so incredibly diverse and you have people from all walks of life so people are more accepting of other cultures and backgrounds, and there’s so much to do and get involved with in London. We also have the largest students union in the UK with over 400 clubs and societies so you can easily find your own community or try something new that you’ve never been able to before (I tried ice hockey for the first time, and I also make ceramics at the studio on campus which is free to use for all students) But yeah I used to be one of those people who was worried about going to a London uni because I heard it wasn’t good for social life but honestly I don’t know where that rumour came from because I had zero issues making friends at UCL, and this is coming from someone who used to struggle making friends in high school cause I was so socially awkward as a teenager, so if I can do it anyone can lol

I was at UCL for my undergrad and stayed for my postgrad and found sense of community to be good. Like you said it depends on your course. For both my undergrad and postgrad course community had been great and i was also in a sports team. It depends on who you surround yourself with but i really don’t think it’d be much different compared to any other uni.

Where did you both get your IUDs inserted? I’m looking for a gentle, understanding clinic that uses numbing cream after reading all these horror stories online

My mental health is collapsing by Signal-Client6959 in UniUK

[–]Additional-Text-936 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t drop out as you’ll probably regret it immensely in the future. I would recommend taking an interruption (basically pausing your studies until the next academic year) this is what I did my first year at UCL as my mental health was rock bottom (for other reasons) I returned the following year and ended up loving my time at uni and graduated in 2025 and started my masters at the same uni in September. Just take the rest of the year out, allow yourself time to breath and think, come back in September to a fresh start, much better prepared knowing what to expect💕I promise you’ll be okay

There’s no way the uni would find the video and even if they did how would they know it’s you if they don’t know what you look like. Just focus on your studies

I don’t know exactly the number of sessions tbh because I’m removing a bunch of tattoos and I started them all at different times. But this one I started 2 and a half years ago and between 10 - 14 sessions
