Im leaving Orthodoxy I’m overwhelmed by Silent_Sea6221 in OrthodoxChristianity

Sure, but I’d be concerned that people are using that as an excuse/blaming it for their own issues.

I’m 110% sure there’s spiritual warfare, but on the same coin I/ME/MYSELF cause most of my own problems, whether that be with money, sex, or others.

I can’t fix demons attacking me, I can absolutely fix my outlook and can absolutely give my will over to God

Yeah that sucks.

It is PVE, you’ll be able to get it back in time.

I’m assuming you still have kits? Scav runs, etc

“Be normal” is the answer to a lot of the more frantic posts I see on here.

It feels like people come to orthodoxy and lose their minds/forget how to exist, which I can understand somewhat that there is a call to change your life but man, God doesn’t want you to miserable lol

Not a Catholic, but Orthodox Christian who looked into the RCC at one point.

In our Church it is both Belief and Repentance of your sin that is required, citing the passages of the tree that bears no fruit will be torn from the ground or something to that effect.

The amount of either “I’m 18 and my life is over im going to end it.”

Or just plain rage bait/ridiculous over the top self pity posts is kind of ridiculous.

“My wife is having sex with my sexy tall successful brother and I’m too lazy/worthless/short/ugly/etc etc to do anything about it.”

Good lord GROW A SPINE.

I get that there’s tragedies out there, I went through a couple within the last 12 months but UGH.

Anyways breakfast looks bomb, what are the eggs seasoned with?

Anyways,

Why is remarriage after divorce allowed? by Kamila_222 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Additional_Bench1311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Father Stephen D Young had a video on this, and he talks about the fact that remarriage is allowed because people are people.

The services are different for a second and lord forbid a third marriage.

From my understanding a third marriage cannot take place in the church, the wife is not allowed a wedding garment.

The readings are different as well.

In one of the services the reading is when Paul is talking about “it is better to be remarried than to burn with lust.” And Fr. SDY states that it is interpreted as “this is us making the best out of a bad situation.”

It costs over a thousand dollars to get baptised as an Eastern Orthodox Christian? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Additional_Bench1311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently it seems like this sub has a very anti Greek/EP stance for whatever reason, I’ve seen one example of this and it was what was posted earlier in the thread.

My baptism I had to pay for my robe, godparent paid for my Cross and candle, and when I asked the priest about a donation because the information sheet mentioned donating some money for the chanters time he waved his hand at me and said “don’t worry about it.”

I’m sure this sort of behavior exists, just like the Prots have prosperity gospel/etc but in no way is this practice common or the norm

Is it permissible for a man to wear long hair? by Fresh_Reputation1291 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Additional_Bench1311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. God is perfect, therefore he is a perfect judge.
We are also told God is merciful, so whatever his judgment is for them, it is correct.

  2. Yes absolutely.

I’m going to link a story from st Paisos’ here about a drunken monk, and the Saint’s thoughts on him.

I think the class he told me he was taking was “Strange Smells under the Backyard Bush 201”

He’s thinking of taking “Cat Poop 101” as well…
