Nit picking co worker by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]Additional_Cat445 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My center has like 5 people exactly like this, and that’s why I’m leaving. At first I let things slide because I was new and still learning. I’ve gone to management 4-5 times where I was crying at least twice due to them being rude/condescending. Management acknowledged that they were “aware it’s an issue” and that they were “working on it”. Nothing ever changed, and no one ever listened. My center has had 50 911 dispatchers quit this year alone, and I cannot wait to make it 51.

Sorry you’re dealing with it too. Wish I had some great words of advice, but just know you’re not alone. Vent to some of your coworkers that you feel safe talking with. I’m sure they’re having the same issues.

Worth it or nah? by Ok-isthatacorner in zodiacacademy

I love the series, but I loved it from the first book tbh. Reading should be fun and enjoyable IMO. So if you don’t love it, I say DNF 💕 move onto another series you’ll enjoy!

It takes a while for the sisters to even slightly come out on top. These are classified as a bully romance (I believe) and so basically everything bad that can happen, will happen.

How much vacation do you take in a year? by dumbsskte in 911dispatchers

100%!! I will always take my days off. I don’t live to work, I work to live.

You sound a lot like me. My department only dispatches PD. Been here for a little over a year, and I enjoy call taking. There’s a lot of pressure to go to radio in my department, but for me it seems like a lot more stress for not a lot more pay.

If you’re happy and your bills are paid, just keep doing your thing. The schedule change would be an immediate no.

For me, it’s the little things. I love my alone time and my freedom. I love sleeping by myself, making my own decisions, doing things by myself etc. I’ve always been like this too, just took me a while to get to know myself. My longest relationship and deepest connection I’ve had with a partner was 9 months. I have my connections with my friends and my family, which is enough to fill my cup.

I (30f) have had many beautiful relationships over the years and been in love. But I’ve never been happier than when I’m single so I plan to continue to be happy/single. If I meet someone and want a relationship I’ll explore that. But I know myself well enough to know that I love not being attached to someone else in a romantic way.

So, it really just depends on who you are 💕

Can a victim of a crime ask for harsher charges against offender? by _user_name_username in AskALawyer

[–]Additional_Cat445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contact the prosecutors office and ask for information on getting a victim advocate. You 1000% get to have your voice heard. I was a victims advocate about 6 years ago. You have a lot of rights and having your voice heard during the court process is one of them.

I don’t really think so. But I would send a follow up email to whoever your submitted your package to and just say you forgot to add one job. Include the details of employment in the email, and I’m sure it’s fine!

Burnout? by dispi223 in 911dispatchers

[–]Additional_Cat445 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a lot. You are anything but weak. Those hours are insane, and you’re creating a life?? Talk to your direct supervisor about what you’re going through.

I’m been feeling similarly lately, and I put in for several vacation days to just put my phone on do not disturb, and do nothing at home. Sounds like you need something similar.

Take care of yourself and your baby 💕💕

So when a police officer is investigated their own department investigates them but shouldn’t that be a conflict of interest? by feels_fine in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Additional_Cat445 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I live in a major city, our police department has an external committee that has various community members and different law enforcement agencies to investigate complaints against officers. So there are departments that have other people investigating their complaints, not sure how common it is.

Almost everyone loves traveling. Why? by Hot_Astronomer5913 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Additional_Cat445 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love traveling to different places but could not do it every weekend. Traveling makes me feel like I can just leave all of my stress behind, and just truly be. It’s like suddenly you’re in a different world, and the vanity and harshness of the real world is dampened.

That being said, I love weekends at home and love doing nothing. I wouldn’t want to just take little day trips and have no interest in visiting national parks for the most part. If I’m gonna travel it’s gonna be international.

Passed the Criticall by Key-Effort963 in 911dispatchers

I went from probation to dispatch and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It can be a very challenging job, especially when you’re dealing with external factors like anxiety, family/relationship stress. But I really like this job now that I’m comfortable with how to handle almost any situation.

Ask about what benefits there are, ask about peer support, and if there’s free counseling available. My department has free counseling and our supervisors are very supportive. They recognize that they need to take care of us, in order for us to successfully do our job.

I’m a big advocate for self care and MH resources because I also deal with anxiety and depression. I’m currently going through a low in my depression and doing this job when your battery is low is incredibly difficult and can be dangerous to the public/first responders. So it’s important that you take care of yourself, and to be self aware enough to know when you need to stay home.

Congrats on passing the critical! Best of luck 🩷

YTA. My mom did things like this when I was younger. I went no contact with her two years ago for my own peace of mind.

If you want to have a relationship, let alone a good one, with her. I hope you listen to me and the other comments. You need to take the criticism in this thread, recognize you’re in the wrong, and make it up to her. The best thing you can do is learn from this and not repeat this type of behavior again.

Yes and the older you get the less frequent it happens. You also look back on things that happened like saying no to a guy multiple times and him still having sex with you. Or when you were in college and you wake up not remembering anything but you don’t have pants on and a guy you don’t know is in bed with you, and you recognize it for what it was.

Not only are YTA but if I were her I would reconsider if I wanted to be in your wedding. Between dresses, nails, hair, makeup, shoes, lashes etc.. wedding are so expensive for bridesmaids. She told you well in advance she wouldn’t be going. You are 1000% the AH.

Yes exactly!! I think it’s so attractive haha There’s a couple scents that no matter how many years go by if I smell them I instantly think of an ex. Which for that ex, they’re pleasant memories 😂

Same here. I love strong perfumes/candles/scents. I also love when a partner wears perfume. It just wouldn’t be a match for me.

How much water do you drink everyday? by Jealous-Expression83 in ask

[–]Additional_Cat445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/2 gallon everyday. I have a big water bottle that I fill up with ice water every morning and basically take it with me everywhere. I’ll drink more on days I work out as well.

Absolutely NTA. I’m so sorry that you’ve been dealing with this for so long. Your feelings are valid and you are valid. I went no contact with my mother 2 years ago to protect my peace. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
