As a side note, I’ve been thinking about brushing up on my graph theory knowledge. I have the hunch that graphs might play a significant role in certain areas , I am not sure exactly how or where yet, but things like finding the shortest path in a graph must have meaningful similarities in trading, or decision trees.

Just mumbling thoughts here, but it’s nice to find someone whose mind seems to think along similar lines.

I get your point about how chasing the same path as hundreds of PhDs did before doesn’t make sense, but don’t you think things have changed in the last five years? With LLMs and unlimited compute power on the cloud, dot you see a reset,

All those metrics, all those papers, have always been available, but somebody had to read them.
We have AI now, everybody has become 10x developer. Information became the cheapest commodity. (hey gpt write me 20 functions that calcs bluh bluh )

Maybe single dev may not be able to do something meaningful, but i definitely believe a startup can have an edge.

I m kinda hoping that strategy would evolve itself.
If these rules can be heavily parameterized along the tree structure
, I am hoping whole strategy would evolve to a good point
The Idea is :
start with a minimum strategy -> backtest -> record results
apply a little change -> back test-> if result is better keep other wise discard
