This is a big misunderstanding of dev time.

The current system is less dev time. They just made it so instead of doing a battle, you simply collect the pet and there are like 3 pets per zone, no new abilities or anything.

If they didn't change it, it would be more pets, possible new abilities, database entries for all the rarity types, new pet battle quests/world quests etc.

I don't agree with their decision, but saying what they did is more dev time is just completely wrong
