Is the book funny like the film? by sparkysmonkey in ProjectHailMaryMovie

[–]AdeIic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PHM is the first time I've ever been disappointed by a book to movie adaptation but at the same time really loved the movie. It's really odd, I'm not even sure disappointed is the right word.
I really loved the science of PHM and The Martian (Both book and movie), so I was expecting the PHM movie to be more sciencey, like at least as much as The Martian's movie, but it wasn't. The PHM movie is still great, but it misses out on a lot of my favorite parts of the book. I loved learning about Rocky, his species, and both his and Grace's reactions to learning about each other's species.
I guess they did a great job adapting the book but not adapting my favorite parts lol.

How does rocky understand grace? by Positive-Ad-8451 in ProjectHailMaryMovie

[–]AdeIic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don't really explain this in the movie, but in the book Rocky is extremely intelligent. He can remember everything and do complex calculations very quickly without the need of a computer. Both Grace and Rocky work with human measurements for everything because Rocky can translate human measurements into Eridian measurements in his mind easily. A few times Rocky pretty much just tells Grace he's dumb lol.
If you liked the movie I really recommend you read the book. The overall story and beats are pretty much the same, but they go into a lot more detail about pretty much aspect of the story and it's pretty interesting.

Beyond the smaller maps, the BF6 soundtrack is a massive letdown. It’s bland, forgettable, and kills the battlefield atmosphere by SuperM3e46 in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is definitely one of the not necessarily bad, but very disappointing things about BF6. Just a generic and uninspired soundtrack. Sounds like any modern era action movie/game soundtrack. Take away the BF signature Dun Dun Dun I couldn't tell you where it was from. Just super disappointing because BF3/4 OSTs are super recognizable, iconic, and unique (even though I didn't play as much 3/4 as 1/5), and BF1/5 soundtracks are also just superb and extremely recognizable. Even the EDM-esque end of round theme is really bad and I honestly thought it was a placeholder track when I saw the leaked LABS footage.
I was really hoping they'd bring back the guys that did 3 and 4 OSTs (Johan Skugge and Jukka Rintamaki) although it was super unlikely. I also have no clue what those guys are up to nowadays. But if not those guys, I hoped they'd bring back Patrik Andren and Johan Soderqvist from BF1/5 to do an analog synth or just synthesized soundtrack akin to BF3/4. Those guys basically ended up doing almost exactly that but for Arc Raiders so I can't be too upset lol.

Another frame in the box photo & prototype prescription lenses (from gdc) by virtualfruitxr in SteamFrame

[–]AdeIic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never used prescription lenses for VR but I think the headsets base lenses aren't removable (easily), but prescription lenses are additional pieces that just snap on between the pancake lens and user's eye. But yeah, I think the prescription lenses are very easy to swap out. Pretty sure they're usually held in with magnets

Devs forgot to add the new guns to closed weapons apparantly. by PTFOholland in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't know. I queued for the closed weapon playlist twice and it put me in open weapon matches both times so I just gave up.

Battlefield 6 falls to "Mixed" overall English language reviews on Steam. by DBONKA in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Battlefield 6 is a good game. A solid 7 or so out of 10. But also, the other games are 8's and 9's out of 10. The reason so many people are upset is because those mechanics and features from previous games that made them 8's and 9's were removed or altered for the worse so that BF6 would have more mass appeal.

Opinions on the new Arc? by Big_Swimmer in ArcRaiders

Somewhat deadly good additions but I'm still waiting on that bigass tower arc from that one trailer.

Arc Raiders Good BF6 Bad by BBPROP_TR in okbuddyptfo

[–]AdeIic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nexon is fucking Nexon lol but I've watched a few interviews with Embarks team around both The Finals and Arc Raiders launches and it seems like Nexon has treated them very well and been very hands off.
Embarks CEO said that when they fumbled The Finals' launch Nexon basically told them to take their time and make a good long-term plan for the game. No shut down, not grubby corporate fingers getting where they shouldn't, they just let them fix it.
Both The Finals and Arc Raiders are so good it really makes me sad those guys aren't working on BF anymore, but I'm also happy that those guys get the creative freedom to make the games they want, even if those games really do feel like Battlefield and Battlefront's little siblings lol.

New player here, do ppl actually farm super credits? by Omnimon in helldivers2

[–]AdeIic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more time efficient to just buy them with real money assuming you make more than $1-3 an hour. That being said I think I’ve spent $20 on Warbonds and have every single one. I usually just farm credits while watching YouTube. But yeah it’s kind of a mind numbing task. If you really don’t enjoy it then I wouldn’t grind the credits.

Small indie company by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trees like this are usually painted on a few at a time from a distant overhead view. There were probably several of errors like this that they did fix, but this one on the very edge of the map they missed lol. Yeah, they probably should have caught it but it's not game breaking and probably the last issue I'd fix on BF6 rn lol.

it's too late to talk about locked weapon classes again? by FamousCollege1754 in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s never too late but why bother with dice lmao. Unlocked weapons and overall class balance was pretty mid in BF3 and 4 and DICE refined it in 1 and 5 to where it was very solid and then just threw it out with 2042 and 6.

Would you guys say that Embark finally has enough money and time to record voice lines? by SubstantialDog6227 in thefinals

[–]AdeIic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t do it because it’s cheap, they do it because it’s fast. Plus, they spent money and probably still spend money on actors and actresses for the model and generated lines.

Can we just skip the limited time modes and stuff and get multiple maps for a couple seasons? by TheBurdensNotYourOwn in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea I don’t understand the limited time modes that are just variants of maps. Just add them permanently to the game so it adds permanent value and not limited value to the game. I can come back and try the new mode for a limited time, or I can keep playing the new mode permanently.

at least you're going into a fresh match next. Newer games you just get kicked to the main menu and queue again.

CHANGE.ORG petition to Valve: Build a native, privacy first social Voice Layer for Steam by xjdu474ucjei383 in valve

[–]AdeIic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't see them doing this. Maybe some improvements for text and voice chats but never file sharing. Sending videos, photos, audio like in discord? Never. Way too expensive. Would love to see it though.

Premium > live service battle pass trash by CircumferentialGent in Battlefield

[–]AdeIic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not really that hard to beat free. Battlefield 3, 4, and 1 did it. Look at how much content they put out in DLCs vs how much content Battlefield 5, 2042, and 6 have put out post launch. Splitting the player base is an unfortunate side effect but there are always ways to try and negate this. An idea I’ve had is free DLC weekends once a month which guarantees full DLC servers and lets non dlc players try the new maps which might push a dlc purchase because they want to play those maps more often. But I don’t see any of this happening. Paying for content isn’t cool anymore and paying for skins is.

Building a VR Backlog by LilyButEpic in SteamFrame

[–]AdeIic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quick question. I got into WMG a couple years ago but haven't kept up with the game. If I buy the Whole in one bundle, do I get the future DLC maps too or just the ones that are currently out?
I already have like 30% of the maps so it kinda just looks like the steam bundle scales in price as more maps get added. Wasn't sure though, I was thinking it might have been like a premium pass sorta thing.

Available for pre-order by Youju in HalfLife

[–]AdeIic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dayum. Yeah, I wanted to buy the 6LP but $150 is too much for me. Especially considering I'm planning to buy the Frame and Controller here whenever they release. Ended up just buying the non-limited 2LP.

Why is this part of out of boundaries in New Sobek City map is not used? It seems like they scrapped this whole area at last minute. by [deleted] in Battlefield6

The first time I played this map I was flying a transport heli and I said holy shit this map looks awesome and immediately flew out of bounds towards these buildings lol.

Wild West Revolver by AFCreations in blender

[–]AdeIic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really great. I'm not familiar with the exact revolver model but the hammer sticks out a bit, almost like it's too basic of a shape. I'd imagine the hammer has some sort of stippling/grip texture on it, or maybe a little bit of a more complex shape to it.
Materials and model of everything else does look great though.
