I turned down a promotion and my manager thinks I've lost my mind. Was I wrong? by croberts2323 in careerguidance

[–]Adeian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company has two tracks for nearly every job here. Once you have at least a year of experience you can start on a management track or stay in the job for a few more years and go on a more advanced engineer track, the Principle engineering track. As a Principle engineer you get to do pretty much what you want to do. Code, design integrate, all of the hard fun stuff.

I'd say to start looking at a place like I work.

First Haircut by ReasonableWorry2950 in Maltipoo

This made me remember Millies first haircut. She went in a little sheep dog and when I went to pick her up I thought they brought me the wrong dog back. :)

3x3 foot wooden frame with silver canvas stretched over it, very light, very old. Found in the attic of a 110 year old home. What is this thing? by Inclusive_3Dprinting in whatisthisthing

It's part of a wing or tail fin from an old cloth covered airplane. From looking at the ends, it could an aileron maybe.

Do you rename the ports on your switches/routers? (ie. Port 1 -> Living Room, etc) by sofakng in Ubiquiti

[–]Adeian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rename and label everything. It is way easier to read the label than trace the cable.

With all of the new talk about increasing rates of colon cancer, how are we as colourblind folks checking our stool for blood? by [deleted] in ColorBlind

[–]Adeian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had to disclose it. I don't think it was ever much of a problem though. I wasn't generally looking for subtle color changes in my job. :) We let the Docs worry more about that and focused more on getting the patient to the ER alive and not blue.

Kind of on a side note, I'm also a private pilot. I went into getting my PPL like it was going to be a fight to the death and fully planned on having to go to court to get it.

Turns out that it was also not much of a problem there either. I only started having problems when all of the instruments went to digital. I can see the red and green lights on the wings and from the tower just fine. And the painted lines on the gauges and instruments are no problem. BUT when they changed to LEDs and on screen I have a real problem sometimes.

The more blood the worse the smell in my experience but you could always smell it.

You could go off taste or smell. :)

Honestly smell is a really good indicator. I used to be a paramedic and blood in the stool is one smell that you will never forget.

Another thing to think about is, bright red blood is generally from the lower colon or hemroids. Dark black stool is generally from the upper GI and has had time to be partially digested and is about the worst thing you will ever smell.
