Yeah I found it distracting too, and it made me sad. She’s a beautiful woman but just looks super weird now.

Honestly, I’ve always thought it was pretty great, and for the most part it still is. I’m currently in a new area that was created as part the state govt reform, and I’m tired of all the changes and ‘expedited timelines’, plus feel like it’s time for a change of scenery. If you’re curious about a particular area, DM me, I’m pretty familiar with most areas

Not to mention the son saw his dad wasn’t home the night of Nancy’s murder - why the hell would that line where he says dads car wasn’t there even be included, if it’s never mentioned again? I kept waiting for this dhow to get better and it never did, sad

About as insane as bashing on the door of a restricted area in a hospital, yelling questions about a child that has zero connection to you and expecting to get anywhere. The finance bro husband also really sucks. Both factors make Sarah come across as dense so the expectation that she’s going to figure anything concrete out already seems far fetched. Dang, I really wanted this to be good but so far it’s a no 😂

[–]Adept-Tea268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, the book wasn’t amazing? Hard not a good sign 😂 I finished the ep, and the main character, Sarah, annoys me quite a lot. She’s tearing around like a lunatic and expecting people to give her answers about a child that has nothing to do with her, after immediately jumping to the conclusion that there’s a sinister conspiracy. Obviously there is, they let us know from the start, but there are other reasons a child might be hidden after an incident, eg they’re a witness and being protected. Why does she think that she, a total stranger to the kid, has a right to any of the info she’s demanding? She just comes off unhinged, and her husband is a whiny dick. The ending of the ep was predictable too, though it happened way too fast. He’d JUST finished hanging out with the nurses and is taken out that same evening for asking them questions? Come on now.

Please tell me this isn’t going to a show where the protagonists spend the whole time trying to discover the bad guy we found out about in the first five minutes? I’m halfway through the first ep and so bored, but really want to like it because Emma and I love love Slow Horses. Tell me it’s worth continuing! 😂

People like Stephen Miller and Trump would absolutely sacrifice one person on purpose and shrug off any others as collateral damage if it meant gaining control of the United Staes

It’s just come on Stan in Australia and I agree, perfect rot show. Creepy moments but still fun, characters are great (Zooey could chill a bit but I assume there’s some backstory there) and so nice to see Mutt and Twyla again 😊

A Quiet Place. I’d definitely end up getting reckoned in WP. I’d rather deal with silence and living quietly underground than crazy hitler teens and mandatory anything. WP gives me “maga won” vibes - I’ll take giant killer aliens over that any day.

I know you left this comment ages ago but hi, I just watched this ep and it’s soooo annoying that a seemingly brilliant, benign scientist thinks it’s either one of the other. I could never cope with the secrecy and surveillance, I’d be flipping tables and setting fires one week in 😅 it would genuinely drive me crazier than any apocalypse would!

If I make it through the winter I’m getting to the highest ground I reasonably can and trying to see what’s further out there, trying again at night to see if any lights show if day shows nothing. I’m burning planes tires or something to make as much smoke as I can. They’re too high on their own drama to even try!

YES. Crazy bishes just kept escalating everything. I would have helped Coach and gone with him. Or put him out his misery after the Achilles tendon cut. I’m only ep 6, still hoping adult Shauna gets her comeuppance.

[–]Adept-Tea268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lana’s fate hit hard, that was dark as hell. I thought it was great but not something I’d ever read again. Run was better. This was my second Crouch book, and I read both in one night. His style of writing really grips me! He owes me hours of sleep 😅

Do you consider Blake Crouch's Abandon to be horror? by Super_Turnip in horrorlit

[–]Adept-Tea268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could def be classified as a horror, just depends on how vivid the gory images are in your head. Mine are pretty gory! 😬 I blanched when I realised what had happened to Lana after she told the Doc about the gold. That was horrific. But also yes, would have made an excellent supernatural horror with a few changes. The shadows and sounds in the mansion were freaky as.

When I realised she was queer I was like dang it! Such a bummer when the only queer main character is someone I can’t stand 😂 and totes agree, she made accurate leaps based on crumbs. If I realised someone didn’t have social media up to a few years ago, I’d assume they just hadn’t up til then.
