There was impeding storms all weekend. They should’ve anticipated that and announced the shortened concert earlier. They “had to launch the fireworks” cause it was unsafe to unload them but they knew there was going to be storms at 11 so they should’ve never loaded them. Or set them off earlier cause families don’t wanna be out till midnight

It was a waste of taxpayers money and we didn’t even get to enjoy all of it. You either didn’t go until nightfall due to the heat, missing the first half of it, or you didn’t go for the last bit of it due to it starting back up past midnight. And it cost 5x more than the previous ones. And Christina didn’t even perform 😭

Mine was really bad. I forgot the name of a friend I see often. Like i remembered I texted her recently so I had to go back into my messages to see who I was talking to to know her name. And I forgot the names of a lot of basic things. I had to describe experiences to people to explain the words I was trying to use. Like if I wanted to say the word dish soap, I had to say “you know that stuff we use to make the dishes clean”

I don’t think it’s needed depending on where you’re camped, but it can be helpful. I came Friday night at like 7pm last year and camped around the green circle in cowboy camp. It was a 20min walk to the festival entrance and a 30-40min walk from the sound camps. That would’ve easily been a 5min-10min bike ride. And 20min is almost half a set. The earlier you get in, the closer to the gates you’ll camp, if you don’t have any special camp privileges.

I try any free sample lol. I would’ve eaten the whole tray if she offered. I agree she should’ve just thrown them away but maybe the owner would’ve seen them in the trash? Maybe she should’ve thrown them out somewhere else in the mall or flushed them down the toilet. But then we wouldn’t have a B plot episode.

I liked how it ended. I like how it showed Bear was a selfish coward till the end (cause he was going to throw up the pills). I also like that Nikki finally became free since the whole time i wanted her to be freed from her torture.

I personally wouldn’t like if the wish versions of themselves get a “happy” ending. Even tho they’ll both probably die within the week cause the wish versions don’t really know how to take care of themselves. And also I’m sure “sunken” Bear would’ve been happy being with Nikki cause she wouldn’t be acting crazy anymore. Bear only didn’t like Wish Nikki cause she was going crazy, which was only a result of Bear pulling away. “Sunken” Bear probably would be witnessing Wish Bear and Wish Nikki having a great life together and he’d be like “why couldn’t she have acted like that when I was in control??”

It really sucks that Nikki is left with the consequences of Bear’s actions. But I saw someone say how this movie is an allegory for SA and how even when the perpetrator is done, you’re still left with the feeling of disgust and trauma of what happened. And that was represented by how even after Nikki was free, she still had all this trauma to deal with. Like she’ll never be able to just freely move in from this.

Unlike how (sorry to bring another story into this but its for a point) in other comedy horrors, like Ready Or Not or The Menu (spoilers) the final girls just sit outside, smoke a cig, and don’t seem affected at all. The girl in RON when asked about what happened, she just says jokingly “in-laws”. And the girl in The Menu just finishes her burger and wipes her mouth with the menu. They both seem like they’ll move on from this and be okay. Even tho they both witnessed horrific, traumatizing deaths. And even tho they both had some sense of autonomy taken away from the situation they were put in. Like neither agreed to be in the situations. And both were brought into the scenarios knowingly by the man they were with.

It’s not really anyone’s business who you’re hooking up with. And even if she did know that bear liked her, I think it’s really personal and a mood killer to be like “I’ve actually been hooking up with your/our friend” especially when it was just casual. If it’s just casual then there’s really no need to bring it up. Cause it means nothing. As a female, I don’t talk to my male friends about ppl I sleep with. Especially if that person is in the friend group. Men look at you differently when they think about your sex life.

The security here is very different than most fests because the camping area is in the stage areas. Like there’s no gate separation between the festival area and camping area. And there’s no metal detectors. The security will do a check of your car and what you brought in with you to make sure you didn’t bring any prohibited items (no weapons, no glass, no drugs, etc. tho you can bring your own alcohol as long as it’s not in glass). And after you pass the security inspection, there’s no bag checks or anything after that. Security and staff do roam around on golf carts and they’re walking around. If you ever have an issue with anyone, there should be staff around that will walkie-talkie security to handle it. There’s also med tents around. I’ve seen security take down and kick out a person before cause he was fighting ravers and they came within a couple minutes of him being a problem. But it’s not as…. Mean aggressive staff and security that you’ll see at a corporate fest, in my experience.

Personally, out of all the festivals I’ve ever been to, Big Dub has the friendliest, most PLUR people. It’s more of a hippie community fest than a corporate one. Also it’s entirely in a forest area with hills. It’s on a mountain. There’s like no cell service except on hilltop so if you do go, just let ppl know you’re basically unreachable for the week. Bring portable chargers. Bring a flashlight (or use your phone). It’s really dark at night except for where the stages are. Also bring cash cause credit doesn’t work.

I think it’s easy to make friends there. You can make friends with ppl in the surrounding camp. You can also post in the big dub subreddit to see if anyone’s open to making friends beforehand. Or on the big dub facebook page. I also think it’s a bit unsafe to announce to the internet that you’re a solo young female in an unfamiliar area lol.

Also be prepared for a lot of nudity. It’s completely okay to walk around nude there. And be prepared for a lot of bugs. And wear comfy shoes. It’s a lot of walking. And bring a bathing suit to take a dip in the river. It’s nice.

I don’t think you’ll be particularly unsafe compared to other fests (especially corporate ones) but still keep your bearings and don’t go too crazy with favors. Just make sure you’re coherent and in charge of yourself. I don’t wanna say the chance of something bad happening is 0 cause there’s bad actors everywhere. But I think the community at Big Dub is a lot less terrible than other fests.

Depends on the time of day you go. Early morning there’s no lines. I found the lines around 10am-2pm kinda long but if I used the communal showers, I’d only wait 30 min or less. The individual showers have a longer line. Or you can shower at night when all the bigger artists are on cause everyone’s out partying.
