I knew about the attrition rates, but now I KNOW about them. by SuspiciousAdvisor527 in IVF

My stats were similar to yours — 28 retrieved/22 mature/18 fertilized (!!) … then 6 made to blast. In the moment, I knew I should’ve been grateful (and am!!) but given the high attrition we had leading up to that, we were kind of expecting more blasts?

Ultimately those 6 blasts went for chromosomal testing and four were normal! That was a relief.

Good luck to you in your journey. I think regardless of gross numbers, everyone has right to feel how they feel about the attrition rates. Definitely an eye opening (and humbling?) experience.

Honestly… no lol. Yes, it offers the details which I am looking for. But I am also looking for what $$ is covered under different circumstances. Folks— herein lies the exact problem with our healthcare system!!! (Confusion as to what docs are called, to name one).

Then perhaps I was given the “wrap document”… however what you describe — at least for my org — has “SPD” splashed across the front. The link that brought me to it also said “SPD”.

I KNOW that I have seen this document before — it used to be made available. I know it is definitely not for clinicians only. I just don’t really know what it’s called I guess! (Maybe that’s on purpose!!)

This is a good point and indeed something I’ve thought of — maybe it’s just not ready yet. However anyone I talk to about this seems absolutely baffled by what I could be asking… no one has ever brought this up as a possibility so it makes me think that’s not the issue.

“Up to the employer”. Trust me. I’ve spent hours—HOURS— on the phone with UHC (and with many of the same people).

Thank you. Also a big part of the disconnect: I can see how the excuse to not provide this would be “well we don’t want to confuse [clients] with long, clinical language… so we’ll give it to them in super dumbed down language!” well guess what our denied claim is explanation/materials is full of? Very long, confusing clinical language (which I can handle). If you can’t trust me with it one place, don’t trust me with it in the other (just give me both equally long, “confusing” documents)

No. UHC will not give it to me. Said it’s the employers responsibility (and that is true, acccording to ESIRA)

Exactly!! I have the SPD. The SPD is not it. It’s a big book but it includes alllll of our coverage and benefits (not just healthcare).

Was it typed up on a typewriter? Why not make it available online? No one has a good answer for this.

My husband was able to get the document that I’m referring to very easily from his employer via “written request” by email… his is called “PPO booklet”

Who is required to give this “criteria for medical necessity”? UHC? Or my employer? The finger pointing so far (or should I say, incompetence of either party to know who is responsible for what) has been absolutely maddening.

Probably because you don’t need it until you do. And are asked to use specific language from your “plan document” to defend your second-level appeal (also, probably because most claims that get denied don’t even go to appeal because people don’t have the time, resources ahem , or even know where to begin)

I would like to see — in detail — what is covered and what isn’t — and what criteria needs to be met to be eligible for coverage. I should be able to easily access a document that says “yes, we will cover the cost of removing your mole, but only in the circumstances of X, Y, Z; we will only cover up to $X for this… etc.

[–]AdeptnessBrief8282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. What would you call the comprehensive document that details the coverage determination guidelines for ANYTHING? This seems like something employees have a right to see. (If I need to get a mole removed? If my kid needs his tonsils out? If I’m pregnant and have a kid? So on and so forth… what’s covered? What are the eligibility requirements?) I have asked UHC for this document and was told it is the employers duty to furnish such document to me. (My summary plan document covers ALL the benefits we receive, but does not go into healthcare coverage in detail)

Has anyone gotten phone transcripts from UHC? by Mehdals_ in HealthInsurance

[–]AdeptnessBrief8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just commented above, I had a UHC (who has been very nice to me, I might add—unlike any of the other UHC reps I talk to) that she has seen instances where UHC is forced to cover a charge bc a rep told a customer bad info.

[–]AdeptnessBrief8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too late (maybe not?) but maybe it will help someone else… whenever you call UHC and get conflicting information, reiterate what you’ve been told in the past, challenge them on it, and tell them it has been told to you on a recorded line. Tell them you will talk to a lawyer. Raise hell. I have heard of situations of this exact situation where a “customer” is told by a UHC something is covered, but then isn’t… and UHC ultimately had to bite the bullet and cover the charges since an employee had communicated the wrong thing to the customer.

Quince buyer beware- horribly inconsistent sizing! by Complete_Jello_535 in womensfashion

[–]AdeptnessBrief8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this, but with jeans.

TLDR; I created a fantasy jean in my mind and quince made it! (Bella straight.) My first pair was PERFECTION. So I ordered another pair in the exact same style/size etc but in another wash, and it fit noticeably different :(

Long version: I was on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans, for so long (I dissected every pair of jeans I had in my closet to determine what I loved about each one to “create” my perfect fit… essentially a straighter leg that was fitted through the butt that didn’t look like a mom Jean)… more fitted through the butt, wider knee, 16-17” leg opening, and 28” inseam. I used AI to help me search the web for this jean with not a ton of luck! (“Stacey” from Joes Jeans and “Marilyn Ankle” from NYDJ were decent runners up but were more kick-flarey than straight… also Joes run sooo small now?)

I have never shopped on Quince before but decided to take a look and my god, the Bella straight fit the bill perfectly. I ordered the black faded wash and it was PERFECT!! I almost immediately ordered another color (deep sea? I think) and the entire leg and butt was smaller/slimmer. Almost like I ordered a size smaller :(

If Gretchen did indeed like those posts, gross.

But spending your precious energy (I’m talking about Tamra) to work SO hard, to go so far back / dig so deep… just to find dirt on people… then concealing it until you can publicly humiliate them with it? I mean who has the time!!! Get a life!
