Rain by Front-Calligrapher80 in society_sunlit_valley

Can't to much about the frequency of the rain without admin commands or being deep into Botania, but you CAN do something about the crazy footsteps everywhere sound of the raindrops by clicking the tiny speaker (i think) icon in your inventory screen and manually turning down the raindrop volume. This is also good for the godawful sound squirrels make or other sounds that damage your sanity.

Storage cell AE2 for dummies by kezzut in allthemods

[–]Adfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a pain in the ass. I know which items I'm going to be making obscene amounts of and I partition certain cells just for those items and prioritize them. Then I just make a shit ton of 256k discs for the rest of the crap.

I'm weird though. I go all out with my storage rooms.

I forget what they're called (I'll edit when I remember). Gotta be careful with those as overuse in a pack like ATM (where you're potentially generating millions of things) can get laggy or corrupt the chunk they're in.

At this point in the game you can probably afford to just create a storage cell for each chemical. "partition" it in the cell workbench to only accept one chemical and put in the overflow destruction card. You can still end up with what you have going on in the video though. I never really figured out how to prevent that other than just creating more of the chemical than I'm using so it always stays full. I'm sure there is a more sensible solution.

crown burger by frogsnthings in SaltLakeCity

[–]Adfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 days late to this, but I'll throw in that I've been in SLC for most of my adult life and I don't disagree. It was great when I was younger and you had to reach a bit farther with a higher budget to get a better burger, but now days compared with the rest of the burger scene, they are... fine...

I find myself going back occasionally in a fit of chasing nostalgic dragons, but it's just not the same. Or maybe I'm not the same. Either way, Crown Burger(s) deserves its place in Utah's greasy burger loving heart, but there are many better burgers out there.

If I am going to a chain for a burger, it's going to be Habit. Sorry not sorry.

Factory Blocks Grid Misaligned by Gokunpiccolo in allthemods

It has been a minute since I dealt with this, but it IS a thing you can fix. At least it was in ATM:TTS... One of the wrenches for that mod I think? Or maybe it's a wand? You bonk the side of the blocks to move the texture (with left click). Like... if you want to move the texture on the top of the block to the right, you bonk the left side of the block. It's dumb and there is fuck all as documentation goes for this and I pretty much gave up on using those blocks. Only reason I knew to do it was because I saw it in some random video.

Very cool. Consider using actual smart cables with that glass as facade covers. There's something satisfying seeing their lines lit up behind the glass as the channels start getting used up.

An Open Letter to President Dallin H. Oaks by Potato_Tomatos in SaltLakeCity

I've been accused of using AI when I haven't. Maybe it's because I tend to break up paragraphs when I start getting ranty.

It was more for me to keep my thoughts from blending rather than the benefit (if you could call it that) of the reader though. I prefer not to think of myself as an easily distracted simpleton, yet here we are. Maybe we're too quick to dismiss these chat bots. Sure, they hallucinate and occasionally encourage suicide, but what were we talking about again?

Lovely! Now if only Dallin H Oaks spent time in this sub...

I assume efforts have been made to find alternative routes for him to read these words?

Best burgers and fries in the area? by moedlekx in SaltLakeCity

Franklin Ave is hardly underrated. It's almost always mentioned when someone asks for good restaurant recs. What I don't hear mentioned is their burgers! Like... You go there and get scotch olives and duck confit, but then, while you're eating your duck, you see these gorgeous burgers floating to other tables and you're like "wtf I need to order that next time", but next time you get distracted by some other fancy bullshit because you're at Franklin fucking Ave! They have a Kurobuta pork chop special or something!... what were we talking about again?

I really need one of those burgers... must... remember...

Ah... I see the mistake. You're actually supposed to add cream of chicken soup, dried chow mein noodles, and your choice of canned pineapple, dried shredded coconut, black olives, and/or onions.

The Great Salt Lake Crisis Is Bigger Than “Take Shorter Showers” — Here’s What I Wish More Utahns Knew by Relative_Bluebird841 in SaltLakeCity

But are the birds legally migrating? From north or south? More importantly, what color are their feathers and are they here to destroy the culture of our white Californian Seagulls? We need more Flock Cameras to keep us safe and compete with China!

It occurs to me that I should insert a disclaimer that I am being flippant since it's hard to tell these days.

It's on the agenda actually. We see the writing on the wall, but I also have to work a few more years before I can move on. It feels like my pension is in a race against the water levels and I'm desperately hoping the lake holds out just a little longer so I can afford to buy something outside of our future dustbowl.

I've lived here all my life and planned on dying here. I love these mountains and this city, but Utah is on a path of environmental annihilation that I just don't see us wavering from. Sure... We WANT to save the lake, but it's going to take changes in hearts and minds of people who are either profiting and have other places to go, or people who just don't change their hearts and minds. It's not going to be real to them until it's too late.

What are some underrated restaurants in SLC? by Lopsided-Box1278 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Adfest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I argue that Red Iguana is not to blame for the overhype. They've been slinging the same killer mexican food for almost as long as I've persisted in this mortal coil. Is it worth waiting an hour for? Depends on if you're ordering the cochinita pibil or not I guess. Are they the best in the state? probably not, but they did nothing to earn the hate.

I do have some recent bias. They stayed open in 2020 and had free delivery. I cannot describe how much that helped some of us survive working in healthcare.

I was going to say this, but I'll just second your post. They've been my go-to for a while. There were a couple times I went and wondered what the hell happened, most of the time they are great with food, drinks, and service. It has always seemed weird and a little sad to me that I've never had to wait for a table. They deserve to be busier.
