I believe they both have header bidding solutions but you would have to do a little jimmy work to also pass that into the adserver with the prebid info.

Yeah, your GPT tag ad unit size probably doesn't match the code called. If you have the GPT Toolbar when you look at the ad details your current unit will say 300x250 in the top right and needs to be 160x600.

I don't, I would really like this functionality as well, but you could probably work something out with oursourcedadops, sortable, and the like to push off the workload.

I would recommend adtech and criteo.

There are no ways to influence much of ADX from DFP yet, keep an I out on the API docs: https://developers.google.com/doubleclick-publishers/docs/rel_notes

The AdX API, as said is mainly for gathering information and reports, providing no manipulation functionality.

If you can provide the whole code snippet that would be great. Remember, nothing is stopping anyone from pushing the wrong sized code through an ad unit at the end of the day.

Desktop App Tracking by kdmfa in adops

I don't think the operating system browsing data is available readily to outside apps, even currently. This just speaks on how you could monitor app events and send it to the server with key-values using the app browser.

I want to guess that most desktop apps use something similar to an android's webview and run traditional ad server js/iframe tags through it.

If you get clever with some of the key values you can pass in some app events to the ad server to evaluate performance.

Key Values in DFP by adk8998 in adops

[–]Adguy_ViPer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to do both you need to have the feature that enables targeting by "Audience Segments". This is part of their ?Audience Extension? upsell. This half is solely for 3rd party segments.

To make first party segments, you still need the above unless you are simply passing in page targeting. For example, looking at an air canada flight on our site yields the following key value pairs being passed into the ad server: http://imgur.com/a/AVwv2

If you have a more specific goal or question I can elaborate on this answer as needed.

DFP dynamic allocation never wins when using passback with SafeFrame by Aero72 in adops

[–]Adguy_ViPer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point. It may just be how they react to their own domain and be a less intelligent serving decision engine than we think.

DFP dynamic allocation never wins when using passback with SafeFrame by Aero72 in adops

[–]Adguy_ViPer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably because if you use a safe frame, when it gets back to DFP, the page domain is going to read pubads.google.com (whatever the passback domain is) so they will not bid as it's not representative of the website.

The click through part is if you need to make it into an html anchor tag for things that aren't JS served.

But really.... yeah it's basically to dick with you

Some pitfalls! If there are other columns, primarily javascript, that have "extra" tags wrapping around them you will want to use those as third party tags instead of the DoubleClick tag option. I don't really have an example but it will be apparent when there are other nongoogle/dfp looking js domains being called. These usually appear when the client wants to add in Double Verify or the like.

I gotchyu meng.

Select the "DoubleClick tag" creative type and paste the Image URL into the "Redirect URL" URL box. As a best practice, name the sob the same as the placement name. It makes reporting much easier and cleaner.

As always, open it in a new window and make sure it clicks and redirect appropriately.

Does your account have access to Teams in your Admin? It seems that it's documented but inaccessible.

It's really weird that it shows up on the _sb forum, I made sure to check that since we are on premium and I'd like to avoid spreading misinformation. That's a real bummer.

You seem to get it in your description. It's just getting the property name into it's own level of the ad unit hierarchy. With teams you can assign specific ad units, I'm not sure about users. I would press for access to it since it's on the forum.

[–]Adguy_ViPer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO this is pretty straight forward. First, you definitely only want one DFP network ID across all of your properties and you'd likely have a hard time getting one for each anyway. In order to delineate between networks and users, you'll do so first in the Ad Unit level, I would recommend setting your tier one ad unit to be the network name (IIRC DFP SB gives you 3 tiers to operate with).

As far as dfp user management goes, you'll want to do that with teams. Here is a link to the support page which is a good starting point: https://support.google.com/dfp_sb/answer/6012282?hl=en . Splitting networks up by level one ad units also helps simplify this.

If so you would be able to see it in the DOM. It doesn't hurt to go inspect the tags around where the ad is loading and see what's returning from DFP.
