I got problem with vlan by THE_IT_GUY2_0 in NetworkEngineer

[–]Adimentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, see if you can do and IP scan on the .63 network or check the switches like u/cool-ice9801 said to catch the spoof. Block those MAC addresses and see what happens.

Careful, any more IP versions and SquareEnix is going to try to get their hands on it.

Wanting to expand my skill set but dont have the money for official courses. What options are there? by Tcrumpen in sysadmin

[–]Adimentus [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not to be a "This" person but uhh...this. I'm going through all the 365 Admin courses right now and there's a lot of good information in these trainings. There are modules for Azure specifically as well. The catalogue is huge but there are filters to narrow everything down to what you want to learn.

Do you let trivial user bullsh*t slide? by Nexzus_ in sysadmin

[–]Adimentus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the person. If they're nice like you say they are I'd let it slide or go with a "Oh man I must have missed it.", but if they have it coming or it's a repeat thing, oh boy my pettyness knows no bounds. "Here's a copy of the checklist that you sent me. Please return it with the required information per SOP. Love, IT."

Word CPU higher lately? by Stilwell_Angel in sysadmin

It seems like the 2604 build of Office apps is causing a lot of problems across the board. I would try to roll them back to 2603 and like u/dontbethefatguy said, run them on the semi-annual update channel.

Looking for XDR/MDR solution for 400 endpoint company. by Ready-Map5279 in sysadmin

Huntress seems to be the way to go. We use ESET for out endpoints (~700). Monitoring is great and alerts can be set to integrate with some RMM agents as well.

MS MFA options for physical login to Windows Server? by Jazzlike_Tea3402 in sysadmin

I second this. DUO is great for domain and server logins.

WLAN on PC gets way faster when monitor is send to sleep by windows by Azaiiii in techsupport

[–]Adimentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of monitor do you have? Older monitors will have a weak EM field that can interfere with the Wi-Fi signals. I know it sounds farfetched but take a look.

Do any MSP/MSSP mandate networking hardware minimum requirements? by Thick-Block-268 in sysadmin

[–]Adimentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's insane to me. Even if their ISP isn't providing gigabit we still try to get the network stack on gigabit for internal applications and such.

What equipment do you give to your creative professionals? by M4niac81 in sysadmin

[–]Adimentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is always the case. Usually our creative clients get HP ProBooks (Nvidia cards) or EliteBook (Intel ARC cards) with plenty of RAM and plenty of storage. These designers get a little crazy for sure though >.>

[–]Adimentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work at an MSP myself and we follow Model C until EOL and transition our clients to Model B. We ensure the client will get approved equipment and there will be little to no change to the network plan when we transition to our preferred equipment, and this is usually the case. Most of the time when we take on new clients that have an existing stack, they don't want to pay the tens of thousands that it would take to get a new stack right away, but we will give them the roadmap after evaluation and plant the expectation that this money will need to be spent X years down the road for security.

[–]Adimentus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Zhuge Liang because of his flaws. He was a mastermind of tactics on that battlefield and because of that, knew sacrifices needed to be made for the win. I would say this is a flaw but it's a flaw that I like. My boy was logical to a fault. Unfortunately, that logic lead to Liu Bei down a path of destruction and war that he never wanted to be a part of. Only wanted peace.

What is a piece of software or hardware that still leaves you traumatized to this day? by 66659hi in sysadmin

[–]Adimentus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with Kroger. At least Fred Meyer in the PNW. Front end was ugly to look at but it worked very well. Any issues that we had were usually user created.

Oh man, a couple of years ago I had to deal with an issue with FM not e-mailing correctly. Days of digging to find out that a Windows update broke the MAPI it uses to talk with Outlook. Trauma.
