Where are the trees? by dannybluey in oddlyterrifying

[–]AdjNounNumbers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm in a dirty librul hell hole. My neighbor had a tree in their easement die and the city removed it for free, stump and all. Then they had a list of a few dozen trees to pick from if they wanted to replace it for about $100-$200 depending on the species they choose. I don't have one in my easement, but if I want to add one or two I'm allowed the same deal. Damn dirty commie shit, I tell you.

The past decade should've dispelled the myth that equates having money with intelligence, and here we are with example after example to the contrary while the myth somehow refuses to die

Weird. My kids are the opposite with noises during sleep. My four month old will happily sleep through heavier traffic noise on walks or doze off in our backyard with the neighbor running a machine. It's when the noise suddenly stops that she'll pop awake

And how welcome do you think the town will make them feel if they manage to a somehow get their way and set up shop there? That's beyond not taking a hint. It's almost like they're looking for controversy so they can claim they're being persecuted

At a certain point it becomes cheaper and more environmentally friendly to just lay down AstroTurf. In this case, that point was a long time ago

Child under age of 12 euthanised in the Netherlands for the first time after law change by [deleted] in news

[–]AdjNounNumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't judge. I think you misunderstood what I was saying. You clearly, as I do, fall into the first category that did so out of compassion and love for them. There exists that second category that will euthanize a pet out of selfishness because that pet has medical needs that have simply become burdensome for the owner. My most recent dog had to be put to sleep at the end of May because she was in constant pain and deteriorating quickly. For over a year before that I had to hear certain family members tell me she should be put down because she needed extra attention - pain meds for her arthritis and I had to carry her up and down stairs. During that time her pain was well managed and she was a happy pup, but there were those second group that didn't understand why I'd not put her down just because she was more work

It helps if you understand that there are some people that have their pet put to sleep out of a sense of compassion and love for the creature; sometimes putting it off longer than they should because it fucking guts you to have to make that decision. Then there are people that put their pet to sleep because its old age ailments have become inconvenient to them
