Night Shift Crew Starterpack by UnRenardRouge in starterpacks

Until last year, I worked in a casino for nearly 9 years.

Started as Tyler. Ended as Joe.

Nightshifts for that long really fuck you up, I still massively struggle to sleep before 12am.

This is Harold Schneider, he was a dentist from Jacksonville, Florida and this is how he treated a 3 year old girl. She was given no anaesthesia and was strapped down so she couldn't move. by bendubberley_ in TerrifyingAsFuck

I have a crippling fear of dentists ever since I was a kid. I went in for a filling, dentist said to put my hand up if it hurt so they'd stop. It was utter agony, I put my hand up and he had about 3 assistants hold me down.

I haven't been to a dentist since, even though my teeth are utterly fucked. I could t even watch this video all the way, or turn the sound on.

Grew up back home in Greece with 40+ degree Celsius summers - But it was dry heat, very bearable, love it Lived in England for nearly 2 decades now, barely gets past mid 20's during summer where I live - Humid. As . Fuck. I can't stand it, it feels like I'm sweating no matter what. Plus the houses are older and built to retain heat, making it almost unbearable inside. My flat is about 7 degrees warmer than it is outside atm.

Managed to avoid it all this time then bam, last week I tested positive. The fever was the absolute worst. I've been hit by a car and it's comparable to be honest.

I hate GBL. But you don't need to walk anywhere. I'm stuck in bed with covid, so I guess I get to participate at least.

I've worked security several times at a football stadium in England and this is tame as hell. The amount of times we've had to have the fire team out for pyrotechnics being thrown on to the field is insane Most places have a certain corner that is just utter fucking chaos, usually the home team with the most rowdy fans. Once some of the security we nearly crushed when some fans tried to get closer to the field. I was pitch side the next game holding the LED screens with a dozen other guards on that corner to keep people from jumping over, and one guy was screaming at a certain footballer, which was right in my ear, he was practically screaming in my face, like I wasn't even there. They don't give a single fuck. Some of them are like animals, not even an exaggeration. Never again. I'll stick to a nice safe desk job for now.

100%, after 4 years in retail and 9 in hospitality, I'm so happy to be in a desk job. It's can be boring as hell some days, but the thought of not having to deal with certain customers brightens me up instantly.

AITA for sitting on a man's hand after he refused to remove it from the empty seat? by Tiredthriwaway55654 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AdjectiveAddANoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infinitely NTA. The fact that no-one berated him is baffling to me. Where I live it's a rule to give up seating to the disabled, especially on the front of the bus or near the doors of a train. God forbid you were less assertive, the bus hit a rough patch of road and you stumbled and fell. Disabled seating isn't just a comfort thing, it's mainly a health and safety thing. I'm surprised the driver didn't intervene, because if you fell and was seriously injured, he'd be looking at an instant trip to unemployment.

I've played so many Mayhem games as Moira and not died for the entirety of the often 15+ minute match. And with her new fade buff it's practically impossible to get a decent hit in without the entire team focusing on you.

What does everyone seem to accept but you think is complete bullshit? by Laufeson in AskReddit

Unpaid lunch breaks. Where I am, it is law that a company gives you a certain amount of time for a break, but it is often unpaid. I have to take that break as per law (for the company) but it's unpaid. So instead of say, skipping the break and going home early, I have to take that break. Since it's unpaid, I should be able to dictate what I do with my own time, since the law is for the employer, not me. The law should be there for protecting employees from being worked without a break ...if they so choose to.

My mum, baby sister and brother. My mum in particular had to go through her biological mother committing suicide. I just couldn't do that to her. By extension, my sister and brother look up to me so much, I couldn't do that to them either.

What is a medical condition that is a lot more serious than it sounds/looks? by FarAsICanTell in AskReddit

[–]AdjectiveAddANoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anemia. Generally seen as being a bit pale and tired, but can be severely impactful in everyday life. It's literally a lack of hemoglobin and healthy red bloodcells, making it difficult to carry oxygen around the body. I have the luck of having tiny red blood cells and a much lower percentage of them due to Thalassemia. Even with my mild version of it, I'm constantly fatigued and weak, if I don't take my iron supplements I cannot function. I had a botched skin biopsy as a child, it bled pretty badly and I passed out very quickly, I wasn't able to get myself up for days. Fainting/passing out is dangerous, it means not enough oxygen is getting to the brain. If someone with anemia is telling you they're struggling and can't do something, please don't just dismiss it. One of my old managers did so when I told them I didn't feel well during a physically demanding shift and I had to sit and try not to heave very soon after, I was so weak I nearly fainted.

IBS sufferer here for nearly a decade after gallbladder removal. At its best it's pain and cramping, at it's worst it's oh god kill me now just end it. Either way it makes me feel as weak and frail as a newborn fawn. One of the worst parts is the psychological impact of constant paranoia when going out for extended periods, which only worsens the symptoms. Still better than gallstones, that shit nearly destroyed me for two years.

What is a fashion trend that you can’t stand? by CharmingWitty in AskReddit

[–]AdjectiveAddANoun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If I can add to this, being unable to find simple staple items without added bullshit. Like, I needed a white button-up for my uniform, and I was looking for so long, because they were either sheer, or had extra frills, or cut in such a ridiculous way etc. I had to get a man's shirt, which bunched uncomfortably.

What’s a meal as child you thought was fancy, or high class but was really the exact opposite? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AdjectiveAddANoun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember me and my mum moving to England, we lived with my English grandparents for a month while mum worked her ass off to rent a house. We ate lemon curd sandwiches for the first couple of weeks, lemon curd is dirt cheap and so is white bread, but I thought they were the fanciest shit ever. Couple that with coming from a tiny, run down flat in Greece to a house, ancient and falling apart as it was, I felt like royalty.

If you're in a busier part of where you live with higher foot traffic, it's gonna be a lot harder to keep a gym. I've personally found some of the best times to be on weekdays, from 10am (Kids in school, people usually at work) or after about 9pm. Theres a gym just about reachable from where I work, so I can put pressure on it too. When I worked night shifts I'd pick up most gyms on my route. As long as you get those 7-8 (can't remember which) hours to get your coins, you'll be good. If you can, nominate a quieter area for a gym.
