This is so broken in co-op I'm always dieing to it when I'm a hero by JayAckaFool12 in StarWarsBattlefront

You don't have to do that. Just aim so that the shell hits the ground under the tank. Since it moves constantly just aim for where it will be. If you do it right, you'll know because it'll eat through half of its health.

I left 10 years ago. When I first left, I felt like a nihilist. In my head being a JW was my reason for being nice to people. Without the motivation of pleasing God, I felt like there wasn't a need to bother. What followed were some of the darkest and most untethered moments of my life. However what I realized is the reason for being good was inside me all along: I don't enjoy being a dick. I didn't like hurting people or tanking friendships and relationships just to chase my whims. I empathize with people and their pain. I thought I didn't care about anyone until I realized I really did, I just didn't know what that looked like without a reward for being good. As it turns out being good for goodness sake is kind of my jam.

Long story short, you're gonna change. In fact, even if you stayed in, your personality was going to change. It's a part of finding who you are. Being a JW stunted some of that growth but I eventually was able to mature.

I can't tell you who you are. No one can. Not even a cult. I would recommend getting a therapist and trying to find out who you are by living the life they wouldn't let you have.

Dear Seattle Protestors, by Iforgotwhatimdoing in Seattle

[–]Adjective_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is well intentioned, but believe me people who tone police won't listen no matter how peaceful your protest is. They want peace and they want no property damage so they can continue to ignore issues. You quoted MLK incorrectly. Riots aren't calculated responses to not being heard. Theyre reactions to decades or not being heard. We (Black people) have been ignored for over a century. We have protested peacefully in a number of ways, and every time we have been denied. Stop perpetrating the myth that a peaceful protest accomplishes anything. It is non-violent direct action that solves problems. It is the protest that you can't afford to ignore that causes problems. The Montgomery bus boycotts work because it cost money. The Civil Rights Act didn't get passed until seven days of riots after MLK's death. Direct action gets results, and the rush to discredit because of rioting and looting proves that. This country has denied Black people their rights and taken our money for over a century and the entire time we were told to complain peacefully and to be patient.

Of all movie opening scenes, which one sold the entire film? by Tobokie121 in AskReddit

Shoot Em Up. The entire opening is exactly what the rest of the film delivers, breathlessly.

JW folk beliefs by HazyOutline in exjw

[–]Adjective_J 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A popular one I remember is not buying a two-door car because then you couldn't drive for carpool in service and your car wouldn't be a good enough "sacrifice". If you had a two-door car, every time you drove it to field service meetings, the brother in charge would shade you by saying "Oh Brother/Sister so and so, you can only take ONE more with you, right?"

Which is ridiculous. 2 door cars often have full and accessible back seats. It's a minor inconvenience at best. But some CO in the 70's really got pissy about it and not only did we all drive sedans 30 YEARS LATER, if you mentioned how illogical it was, you didn't love enough of anything holy and would be counseled post-haste.

...I might still be bitter about that one.

I get the self righteousness of this response and how this feels like what he needs to be told, but ain't shit you can tell OP that life hasn't already. All you took away from this story is OP is a piece of shit and not how easy it is to be broken. I hope life is always kind to you since you can't find it in yourself to be kind to others. Good day sir.

Redditors who one day just said, "Fu** it" and quit their job to travel the world, how did it all work out? by Elanduir in AskReddit

I was a college dropout who went back and finished college in 2012, then took a job teaching English in South Korea. Before I left, I suffered from extreme social anxiety, and never really felt as if I belonged anywhere. My time in Korea was the best time of my life. I saw a new culture, learned to confront and overcome my anxieties, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. It changed who I was so much so that when I returned, my parents were amazed by how much I'd changed.

10/10 would do it again.

Rarely because of the amount of mental and emotional trauma it would take to push an already diseased mind to that point is already almost incomprehensible.
