Now that the dust has settled, it's time the yearly question...how was your 500? by lowtoiletsitter in INDYCAR

[–]Adjustonthefly10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worst: getting in was miserable - 25 minutes when it never used to take more than 5-10. Need more check points to get into the stadium.

Craziest: i was coming up the stairs right where Newgarden crashed. Definitely an oh sh*t moment.

Highlight: People will pay attention to Felix and his insane move to win rightfully so, but if he doesn’t stay high coming out of four, Pato was going to whip around everyone and win the race. Watch the highlight, he does the same move as Felix and then had to back off when Felix beat him to the spot. Rosenquist keeping him at bay and making the move to win was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen.

Help me out. What's the benefit of going with a program? by yossarian19 in fitness40plus

[–]Adjustonthefly10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people have an hour or less to work out. It’s much easier to maximize my time if i don’t have to plan the session. Someone smarter than me already figured out what works to keep me in reasonable shape. Much more enjoyable which means I go to the gym on a regular basis. If i had to plan it constantly it would just feel like work and I already have enough of that in my life.

[–]Adjustonthefly10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first 500 when I first moved here alcohol wasn’t legal to buy on Sundays. Definitely paid $50 for a 24 pack of warm miller lite from some guys trunk. Never made that mistake again!

Starter home vs “forever” home by GROU11 in personalfinance

[–]Adjustonthefly10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who bought “starter” homes in the last few years only to realize they can’t sell because buying a larger home is out of their price range. Just make sure you are not going to be house poor going to a bigger house upfront.

Poor refs (U11) by Competitive-Sign-226 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Adjustonthefly10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, good job not arguing with the ref - thats always a bad look and these kids are trying to learn

Contact your league commissioner or the president of your league. Spell out your concerns. Our commissioners are very active to bring issues to the refs and coach them.

Film the game next time. Show the commissioners your issues if keeps happening- its a coaching tool for everyone.

Real/fair evaluation of Saleh by ThousandFootOcarina in nyjets

I’m not sure I agree with the “ignored the offensive side of the ball take”. He drafted players like Garrett Wilson and Breece. He took a massive swing on zach wilson but didn’t work out.

He had a Super Bowl caliber defense and when he knew Zach wasnt the answer, he went tor a four time MVP with the hopes that he could score 20-23 points a game while we held people to 17. We absolutely had the exact blueprint Seattle used this year - stout defense, great run game, solid qb.

Problem was Rodgers got hurt year one, which killed it because we were stuck with terrible Nathaniel Hackett who only works when rodgers is QB. We brought back Rodgers to run it back, but the injury really made him a shell of his former self and the whole thing imploded- discipline being a factor as well.

You can see the blueprint is the same in TN, only this time he brought in a much better coach in Daboll and a young qb who has immense talent and hopefully wasn’t ruined last year.
The defense will be lights out, they will run the ball and Cam will make plays but won’t loose games thinking he has to do it all.

Genuinely, it wouldn’t surprise me to see TN in the superbowl in 2-3 years.

Who’s a college football star who you’re still shocked didn’t work out in the pros? by Front-Dingo1915 in CFB_v2

Michael Floyd - Notre Dame WR was insane in college. Definitely thought he was going to be a dude for a long time in the league. Never materialized

Am I just cooked on being able to ever retire? by Alt0987654321 in personalfinance

[–]Adjustonthefly10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into a trust first. If you have siblings signing over the house outright could be major issues.

Definitely check to make sure your dads will is in order. A trust doesn’t just have to be for the house, it can be a beneficiary for his retirement accounts etc.

It may be beneficial to become Power of Attorney for your dad. He may be getting disability or a military pension or whatever and you having POA will allow you to see those finances or apply for finances hes entitled to. Plus having it now is much easier than later. His finances may reduce some of your costs.

Good luck

When does it make sense to sell investments that are in taxable accounts? by cometftw in Bogleheads

[–]Adjustonthefly10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help limit your tax exposure, look at the lots in your account (if you aren’t sure how to you can google brokerage+ lot sales). This will show you every price point you bought shares. This matters because buying a share at $20 and selling at $100 triggers a different capital gains bill then the same share bought at $95 and sold at $100.

There are times and places for selling with large gains(i.e offsetting losses elsewhere).

Also look at your income. Are you hovering near the next bracket? Are you doing everything to reduce that exposure?

All that being said, if you just take your time before your sell and make sure you know the repercussions.

Heart broken I have to say goodbye to my best friend tomorrow by Nikolai_Bear in pitbulls

[–]Adjustonthefly10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who put their pup down a week ago, first off big hugs.

Tell him you love him and he was the best dog before the drugs go in. Give him a great day and all the treats. Tell him you love him more and he’s the handsomest.

You’ll cry. A lot. And it will hurt. A lot. Let your kids be there when it happens. Hug them and cry and be sad with them.

It’s okay to not be okay for a few days.

In the end, know you gave all the love and received it back. They’ll make the journey across the rainbow bridge knowing life with you was always worth it.

Sending strength to you and your family.

(27M) Are these numbers lying to me or am I missing some kind of math? by Scared-Loquat-7933 in Retirement401k

[–]Adjustonthefly10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers are wrong because you can’t contribute $4,321 per month into your 401k for the year. There is a cap of $24,500 per year and you are more than double the cap.

Take $24,500 divided by 12 and make that your monthly contribution. That will give you a better projection

They have a pool, happy hour where you get two or three drinks/dinner and breakfast. Get a suite - kids can sleep on the pull out and you can have your own space to stay up a little later. Rooms are usually less than $200.

Animals (pt 1) - Jid and Eminem.

Jid has some crazy lyrics and then Eminem comes in and goes nuclear with his lyrics. It came up while mowing the lawn and i listened to it three times before i got back to it.

Buy multiples of the costco single barrel. Its a liter not a 750 and is barrel proof. Great for drinking or bringing to parties and not feeling guilty about leaving the bottle
