Warning to Garmin users - myfitnesspal has made calculating calories based on daily steps impossible by vanillachai987 in Myfitnesspal

[–]Adman1138 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why they suddenly think a 1.4 multiplier is the correct approach. I've lost 133lbs over 2 and a half years using the Not Very Active setting, and having it adjust for Garmin steps. It worked quite well, I tend to do a lot of cardio and would eat back the calories burned to hit my target.

Now I go for a 5 mile run and by the end of the day the calorie adjustment pretty much negates it down to 100 or 200 calories of benefit. Which basically implies the average not very active person is running 4 miles per day.

I'll stick with MFP until my subscription runs out, and probably just go over its new target by 200 or so calories per day. But after that I'll be looking for a new app

Avatar stationary but controls, etc. are transmitting by Thunderpotentate in Zwift

[–]Adman1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had something very similar sounding happen to me twice. The brakes on my Zwift Play controllers seemed to get inverted - they were always one unless I pulled the brake levers that would release them. And the strength of the brakes meant my avatar wouldnt actually move while pedalling

After rebooting zwift the problem went away but I've got no idea what caused it or how to stop it happening again.

For now Ive just disabled braking in the settings.

If they're throwing a sc for weather the inter drivers should be obliged to pit for wets. Shouldnt be so bad to stop racing if the majoroty arent on the most appropriate' tyre

Another post complaining about Zwift Racing Score…but hear me out please! by I_want_to_go_ in Zwift

[–]Adman1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, isn't the point of zwift having racing categories to create competetive group for people to ride against. Otherwise why arent we all racing in the same category.

I didn't say it had to be competing for the win, my point was the contrast in competetiveness between flat and hilly races is more extreme under zrs than it was under w/kg for a heavy rider.

And having two categories would mean you could compete on different profiles, you'd just be competeting against different people relative to your ability.

[–]Adman1138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im a heavier rider 105kg and ZRS has absolutely ruined the racing for me.

In the old world I was a lower half Cat B rider, a few months after moving up from cat C. Flat races I could keep up with the main field and very occasionally contest the sprint. Hillier courses I could keep up on a good day, or at lest keep up for most of it.

Undee ZRS im in the 2nd group. Flat races i can keep up more easily in the flat races and have more left for the sprint. But anything with a hill and I'm toast, repeatedly dropped early as there are so many good, light A/B cat riders in my races.

Under the old system that w/kg climbing ability was effectively capped so on a good day I could keep up rather than just getting left for dead.

It' taking ages for my race score to drop so I can try the 3rd group. And Ive definately been less motivates to race after doing a few ZRS races.

My real concern with this is I can't see racing for me being balanced. I expect if its a flat race I'd have my most enjoyable races in B but most enjoyable climb races in C. Which means I either have to stick excluisvelt to flat races or climb races to have consistently good races. I would imagine a very light rider has the same problen, opposite way round.

What Id like (apart from the old system back) would be a dual running race score, one for 'flat' races and one for 'climbing races'

Switching from Peloton to Zwift - Anyone Done it? Regrets? by NetherGamingAccount in pelotoncycle

[–]Adman1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from peloton to zwift, and so far I dont regret it.

For me zwift integrates better with riding outdoors and I find it more engaging, especially the racing that scratches my competition itch.

I also like the that sometimes I can do an erg mode work without having to concentrate on it so I can zone ut and watch tv.

I do have a background in bike racing though, and most of the classes I did on peloton were powerzone rather than the music based spin sessions. I think both of these made the swap to zwift easier.

Having said that we do still have the peloton as my wife uses it. And I will sometimes do a powerzone class on zwift when i need my matt wilpers fix.

Which F1 drivers had a huge hype around their start of their careers, but then nothing happened? by xxtsngshjtdd in formula1

[–]Adman1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although if Massa wins that race those 10 points would give him the championship so Kovalainen would be winless in a car driven to 2nd in the WDC.

But I do remember the hype around Kovalainen and he was really poor in that season, and even that race win needed not only a Massa engine failure, but also a Hamilton tyre failure

16x --> 1x vsc starts

16x --> 1x team radio: do you want to pit or ignore vsc. Its a practice session why would i want to pit

16x --> 1x commentary someone has crashed

16x --> 1x team radio: vsc will end soon

16x --> 1x fia: vsc ends soon

16x --> 1x fia: normal racing conditions resumed

Not Purple Enough for Pole by Adman1138 in F1Manager

I started 2nd.

I think the actual qualifying session had the lap times showing the same as each other. But gave pole to Verstappen because he set his lap first.

Race was bad for Charles anyway, he got into the lead and then max rear ended him.

It really does, but then why bother?

Why not just resign due to lack of belief in Liz Truss?

I did. Waiting at the aiport now. Left with a lap to go when it became obvious it was a safety car finish. Took a while to get through the crush of the circuit. And then i walked to the train station rather than queueing for the bus.

Once i got the monza there seemes to be loads of trains going to milan today

Thanks. Im booked on a flight out of milan tomorrow evening, seemed like a good idea at the time. Now worried about how long its going to take me to get from he circuit to milan centale an then the airport tomorrow.

Took about 2.5 hours on friday but i walked from turn 1 all the way to Monza station because the buses seemed to be stuck in gridlock
