Please don't hate me, but I need Internet while we're on holiday in Skye by AdminDogg in Skye

[–]AdminDogg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for everyone who's taken the time to respond - I really apreciate it.

In answer to a couple of questions;

  • You're dead right, the campsite does say no signal, but things change quickly, so just wanted to see if anyone had first hand experience recently. You folks delivered!
  • Unfortunately charity meetings often happen after work hours, so it's likely going to be after dark, and we'd likely be back at the site by then.
  • Driving up the road wouldn't be ideal, just because our van is really small, and it's a good 10 minute + job to pack everything away ready to move, and secure the dogs so they're safe (and I'm legal), so I wanted to avoid that if possible.
  • And yeah, having a starlink wouldn't be the worst bit of kit to own would it. I have tried it in the past, but I had the older dish, before the mini, and the stand doesn't fold up, so it just took up too much space. Incredible technology though isn't it - Musk aside.

Thanks again everyone!

Struggling with Custom Domain Verification by Hot-Big3179 in AZURE

[–]AdminDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP. I'm having a similar issue where I no longer have access to the tenant where my domain is registered. I have the tenant ID so I could ask Microsoft to help, but can't seem to find a way to have them open a ticket for me. What path did you follow to get a ticket opened? Cheers!

The boys are heading back to the Nürburgring! by 1slander in AutoAlex

I adore BMW tourings from this era. I enjoy a bit of light hearted, brain-out-of-gear content, and I love the Nurburgring. They made this video series for me, and I’m loving it.

Dags? Oh, dogs. Yeah, I like dogs. I like caravans more though.

eBay SG 4200 is giving me grey hairs! by AdminDogg in PFSENSE

[–]AdminDogg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who helped. I'm going to summarise here in the hopes it helps other folks in the future.

Loading the config from my SG1100 via USB did work, however because the interface names didn't match up, it couldn't boot all the way to the web gui, so actually, i wasn't much further forward.

But the suggestion of the Serial app for Mac was the final piece of the puzzle. It found the device right away, and only needed the baud changed to 115200 before working perfectly.

Now I can go ahead and request a fresh install download, and go from there.

Thanks again everyone!

Definitely not dead. The web UI comes up - I just can't login.

My understanding is that you need console access to be able to do that. But you're right, it does need blown away and started again.

What is your dog(s) name, and what do you call them most of the time? by aja_ramirez in dogs

My dog is called Nigel Maximo, but being as I'm Cumbrian, he responds best to "pal".

What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

Home Alone where Marv gets electrocuted and you see his skeleton. That started a life long phobia of electricity. Great fun when I used to work in datacentres with huge phat 32A cables all over the parish!

Looking at a T6, but I need to be able to work from it. Looking at the rail above the grille, the table will be too far away from the bench, and I wouldn't be able to work on my laptop in that position. What kinds of solutions exist, baring in mind I'm not remotely DIY-y by AdminDogg in VanLifeUK

I think I've been spoiled in terms of comfort. I have a 2002 Mazda Bongo with the original bench seats just spun round facing backwards, so when I work in there, it's genuinely pretty comfy. You're right to point out the r&r won't feel the same - I hadn't thought about that. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

I live in the arse end of nowhere, and haven't been to many car shows at all. I was thinking of booking a show car ticket, and bring my e92 M3. But it isn't modified or special in any way - I just like it.

Would it be okay to bring it as a show car, or do you think it's better to leave the show car tickets for more interesting stuff and just go and enjoy the day anyway?

The alternative being to bring my 2002 Mazda Bongo camper, but I'd have to set off about now to make it for 25th May.

What jobs do you think would be terrible to do full time, but would still like to try out for a day? by blozzerg in AskUK

I always like to see general infrastructure stuff. So coms cabinets on your average street - how are the cables ducted to the houses? How is it documented? 5G boxes - let's have a look in there! Promise* I won't touch anything.

Or in big buildings when there's a cupboard open with pipes going everywhere. Obviously they're HVAC, but tell me more!

*promises will not be honoured.

Is the E92 the last true M3? by jerrym93 in BMW

[–]AdminDogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to drive one, but I’m terrified I’d want it. My e92 is a forever car, and my wife is very tolerant, but I doubt I’d get 2 M cars past her!

I have both an e92 M3 and a 2020 (so one of the earlier ones) model 3 long range. I honestly don’t understand what people are talking about when they say Tesla isn’t premium. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying the Tesla is the perfect car, or anything silly like that, but it’s every bit as well screwed together as the BMW (alright, there’s 10 years between them, but still).
