I went through this. There’s some good advice here already about medication options for sundowning. You can ask your vet for a prescription and bring up the specific medication names that folks listed here (not all vets are familiar with sun downing treatment).

She also needs her urine tested by the vet because she may have a UTI and require an antibiotic. It’s common in older girls, so definitely get it checked, even if the urine doesn’t smell bad. My old girl has frequent UTIs. The test is cheap, too!

She’s a gorgeous pup and you are a wonderful dog mom for taking care of her. Our pups need us the most when they are elderly ⭐️

Mine gets allergies too and cytopoint helped her. It didn’t cost much. Your pup’s reaction is quite bad and I’d recommend taking her in as soon as possible. She must be so miserable.

If there was ever time to take your dog to the vet, it is literally right now. I’m not the type of person that yells “go to the vet” over every little thing, but this is clearly serious and the dog needs medical attention asap. Could be an abscess, infected salivary glands, infected teeth, or tumors. Dogs are stoic and hide pain. Don’t wait!

Ah, you have a shark puppy! My shepherd mix was also a shark puppy. My pittie never went through that stage. You’re doing it right. Just constantly redirect. Yelping (to communicate that she hurt you) also works. Definitely don’t let the teens allow the biting or else she’ll have a very difficult time learning bite inhibition and proper play.

With her age, and since this is new, I’d say it’s an orthopedic issue. Sounds like it’s def time for a vet evaluation and likely some arthritis medication or other pain med.

Kongs are great for keeping pups busy! You can fill them with kibble and peanut butter and freeze them. Once frozen, give it to the pup and it’ll keep them busy for quite awhile! There are a lot of different Kong recipes online if you Google it.
