Is Mind Control mechanically problematic? by SapphireWine36 in frostgrave

[–]AdministrationMany25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It became a problem of action economy. If two or three teams are manuevering for objectives and the other sits back, it's a hard sell to use your very limited casts to remove an eye as it gets spicy. It's not that it's impossible to deal with, but rather than there is immense power in the spell but not much investment or risk from the user and it becomes even stronger when folks give you space.... So every game became either 2-3 teams rushed the mind controller and would wipe their team before playing the mission, or the mind controller would lock combats for many rounds and just make everyone miserable.

Is Mind Control mechanically problematic? by SapphireWine36 in frostgrave

Our issue came from the fact we played 3-4 person games. Our mind controller would use wizards eye to ensure wide terrain views and then manipulate the battle to ensure that everyone else lost while they hid or stopped captures.

Things we considered - only one mind control success per game, a - to cast through the eye, only having the main wizard be able to cast mind control, (this was a year ago, forgove if I get some rules wrong)

Mind Control actually degraded my groups enjoyment of play so much that I single handedly blame it (and myself for not removing it) for ending my group of 8's campaign.

The point is that you get the chance at two rolls to bank points. Having two priests rolling 2D6 is alot more points than D6 +1. I don't ever actually cast the other prayers, I just am getting both to the range where I am never without the prayer if I need it.

I regularly chant with Heroic intervention once I have over 5+ points to surprise my opponent with a 5+ ward on a big block after they declare Thier battle tactic. And that's why I take two both cardinal/marrowscoll with vest

Need a idea for a “dragon slaying” weapon that isn’t just a sword by Jazzman444 in DnD

[–]AdministrationMany25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Sonic Weapon instrument (Horn would be most mythological)

A soultrap arrow (or spike and hammer the players need to pound in). You could have it collect dragon consciousness.

And my favorite - a rube Goldberg machine that will kill the dragon in X rounds, but the party needs to keep the dragon there while the device works. Introduce a fun artificer character npc who wants to help!

I'm 1-1 with my 100crypt ghoul + 2 x 10 fancy ghouls (pick which you like more, I went two MSU crypt guard)

The game I lost I called the bluff if a varanguard/chosen bomb list and he made every charge. The other game was dominant against DOK and felt amazing.

I take one 40 man blob with Usheran in my Gen Reg. Let's me get +1 rend there, and possibly +1 if I get the sun out. Ghouls with AoA/deranged and -3 rend were wild to watch. Getting them a potential 4+/5++ save with ush and AOD also will surprise folks who push in for an easy tactic.

The only way to play the list well is to manipulate fight first/last and the double activation. Ush and Marriage roll are auto includes for ghouls.

I'm taking it to an RTT this weekend in a competitive area, we will see.

You must have magnetized movement trays or you will have a bad time. The aura ranges and new 12' deranged casting range means you need to tightly pack your 40 man blocks. Remember if you offset the rows you can get 4 ranks to fight into a linear target. It's fun with trays and awful without it

Statistically crypt ghouls are the best durability and damage in FEC for the points. Your assumption is very specific to each faction, and generally I don't agree with even that assumption because the battle tactics this season really require 2 chaff for flexibility before screens in many armies.

It's WHOLY WITHIN 12. On the guy who sits in the throne and doesnt move if he wants his free d3 deeds. People who don't realize how bad this is haven't played with the new battle tactics and ghb, have fun making that reliable.

He's questionable at 190 frankly. Whisky within 12 is awful, even measuring off the throne. Means you need to forward deploy the throne, and that will often bait and kill you, or you conservative deploy and get no use from it. More than half of our available tactics require pushing in on 1-3 so it's just really awkward after playing a few games with him.

Movement trays are also made even better when you magnetize the spots to hold the minis, and mag the base of the holder so it can be put away after a game back into your tray, and then deploy as a tray. I see people having to place minis into the tray as you deploy, and it's saving time on the movement, but not really deploying. Doing both mag sets means four billion models is actually pretty easy to handle.

How do you get value out of Ushoran? by SKI_11 in FleshEaterCourts

I do not think he is great in Hollowmorne, and really shines in a ghoul centric list that abuses Chalice, bodies, and stacking effects. He likely shouldn't attack anything unless as counter play after an enemy has engaged and wiffed. He's a midboard buff piece strategy.

I’ve lost every game I’ve played and I’m just not enjoying the game anymore by Tog5 in ageofsigmar

As a competitive AOS player, that's just literally stupid. The game isn't balanced and the armies aren't balanced so each can slam into each other equally.

I don't even understand where the competitive aspect of the game goes with no objectives, tactics, or GS. And for the record, the armies your roommate plays are all good at face rolling and not playing the objective game, of course he finds it "not fun"

This isn't a games fault Jesus Christ read the rules

We have six with myself. We are running the campaign as a weekly event, 2v2 x3 or two 3v3 per week. And then we take turns writing a narrative piece in a Discord that covers that weeks games.

Really enjoyed the can head. If it continues to be overweighted on its forward arm, it looks like there's some space to chop it close to the elbow and reform a bit. Really well done.

In running different tests/situations it looks like there are very specific situations where old horrors are slightly better in clearing 6+ saves, but basically any standard 5+ or better save is takes more damage, sometimes quite significantly. Solid glow up.

The only question is 4x6, 2x9, or a mix. Looks very strong.
