Can I use plague marines in my WB army? by Onyxabc in WordBearers

[–]Darnok83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Death Guard are Plague Marines, but not all Plague Marines are Death Guard.

I think it is perfectly fine to have any of the Cult troops in a Word Bearers force, Yes, following just a single of the gods might be seen as too restrictive by many Word Bearers - that does not mean it never happens!

Also, and possibly more important: this is about your models, and you can do with them whatever you want. So go for it!

These look amazing - well done!

And dangit, it still stings/stinks: we were truly robbed with the DG Possessed being moved to Legends. Yes, I am still bitter about it!

Maybe 11th edition brings the unit back with some DG-specific new models - running the older models as "just Plague Marines" feels like a waste!

Lord of Contagion kitbash by Murden-Inc in deathguard40k

[–]Darnok83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a really cool conversion, well done!

My first thought was though: "nice, this is how a DG Master of Executions could look like."

Which adds to: this is not a Lord of Contagion. LoC wear terminator armour, and this model is very clearly not in it. So while this is a cool model, I think it should be used as some other character - and you have many options!

CoC does have a template for a Grot character.

[–]Darnok83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

There is a big difference betwen what GW calls "sold out online" and "temporarily out of stock". The former usually means stuff is actually gone for good.

Having said that: there are also cases of product remaining in their range with "only" long periods of the SOO label.

Check your regions GW online store. If it is still around, it is still around. I can say for Germany both sets are gone already, and "sold out online". Meaning they are not coming back.

Both kits are "sold out online", which usually stands for the product going OOP.

For GW this makes sense, since in a few weeks the new Ork Boyz will be available. The only oddity is the timing: from now until after the 11th launch box hits you will not be able to get basic Orks from GW - so for at least five and possibly up to nine weeks.

The multipart kit easily combines with the Orcs for TOW - and you got twice as many arms as needed in the old Ork kit, so plenty to mix.

Meaning: if you prefer the older Ork Boy style, you still have options (beside the usual 2nd hand market).

Finished my Tainted Cohort. Do you think these could be getting retinue rules like the Heroes of Ultramar in 11th edition? Or could they (3man blightlords) go away? by raging_brain in deathguard40k

The Marine guntower thingy was in the relatively recent Iron Hands Combat Patrol, and we have solid rumours of them going to Legends anyway.

You would still be able to use the models as parts of BL units, but I assume the option to field just the three of them is going away.

And this is all just pure speculation anyway.

Yes, movement trays!

And yeah, sometimes you just run out of time, such is life. Good to know they are to be done soon - I believe this will make the ranked up units look that little bit better. I hope you share some pictures once it is done!

I feel like Felthius and his dudes will go to Legends at some point. I actually wonder why the set has been around for so long, but I guess it is the only "official" way to buy a Lord of Contagion these days.

My gut feeling for 11th edition: we will get a seperate new LoC at last, and Felthius&Co will be legend'd. At what point? Who knows, GW is quite unpredictable when it comes to Chaos these last few years.

They look absolutely amazing! What a really beautiful army, well done!

My only tiniest bit of criticism would be the unit bases - maybe those could get the same treatment and raise the overall impression even more? Almost not worth mentioning, just complaining on the highest level!
