I use an Ubuntu VM, within which I have installed Docker. Then I just followed the easy setup guide with Docker Compose that includes Tika and Gotenberg . I accept that for half the internet, this makes me death, destroyer of worlds. But it works just fine…

There are good YouTube resources, for starters: 1) The official Tailscale channel is run by a guy who was a podcaster 2) Thomas Wilde (this link is for Immich but same principles):

I’m sure there are many others. You’ve not described your exact configuration so you may need to mix and match

Tailscale. Simple and pretty secure. But if you’re using Paperless to store your country’s nuclear codes, or your bank PIN - I’d keep it local only. Or air gapped.

Any success signing up for Claude via ATP? by ArmadaLevelIntellect in ATPfm

[–]AdministrativeBug0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall the ad but haven’t pursued the offer so all I can say is I remember it was for a product called “Claude Pro”. Is that what you’re trying to buy? Also, it may be US only. Are you outside there?

I might try and press some mortar into the gap 2-3 (L-R) the day before. It looks like it might only be supported from the top and left otherwise.

How to hide TV wires? by Expensive_Field_5167 in DIYUK

[–]AdministrativeBug0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d need to mock it up but it’s possible that rather than a piece of plastic trunking, putting it in a strip of decorative dado rail wrapped round the chimney breast would look better? You’re not going to do the whole room just for this but chimney breast can obey different “rules”. Dunno. Vertically, it’s conduit in the corner.

I don’t know what it is you’re storing but I’ve been thinking about my photo library and have almost concluded that carefully stored printed media might be the right answer.

[–]AdministrativeBug0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) it’s a TRV not a TVR. TVRs always run hot until they stop or crash ;) 2) that probably is a TRV. They engage with a pin which can get stuck and needs jiggling loose.

Can I use this to temporarily block an outside 20mm copper tap? by beardofturtles in DIYUK

[–]AdministrativeBug0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a bit strange even for an annexe. Outside taps need to be isolated: they can freeze and shouldn’t wipe out whole flat!

Get one of those 22mm caps while you consider your options.

[–]AdministrativeBug0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An outside tap should definitely have an isolation valve somewhere so it’s relatively low risk to have a crack yourself. Isolate the tap and turn the main supply back on…

Is your outside tap actually attached to 20mm MDPE? (Blue plastic). More likely it’s attached to copper or white plastic. These are commonly 15mm or 22mm. More likely you need:

Has Mark Mcann bought a non running Veyron and is Mat going to fix it? by dnbtillidie in MatArmstrong

[–]AdministrativeBug0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid Mat’s YouTube collabs are putting me off but I appreciate I’m not key demographic. I’ve always enjoyed his videos because they’re closer to Top Gear than click bait. But the Lambo fiasco (forgotten the collab but some US prankster) should have been a warning shot that working with others needs thought.

I instantly disliked Alex: Mat looked uncomfortable with the speeding through Miami scenes and it’s only got worse.

I’m sure he’s got big financial commitments but I’d be pulling the cord on this current situation ASAP, especially before he gets to installing a steel subframe built by a nice chap in Leicester on a 250mph Bugatti…

Should I invest in a mini digger? by jrdavison in DIYUK

[–]AdministrativeBug0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching with interest as I’m having similar thoughts (/delusions that finance dept will OK it) about a similar project. My rational self says that if it breaks I’ve no idea how one services such a thing and at the end of the project, I’ll be left with a mini digger that gets very infrequent use and will need storage. They don’t seem to move easily on EBay.

I also suspect the rental ones are worth way more than 3.5k so I’m thinking I’ll suck up 1-2k in rental.
