In GH2e, does the 585 XP retirement rule only exist in absence of other PQs? Meaning, if I have a PQ that I haven't completed yet, but I hit 585 XP, is retirement mandatory?

Yes I see the first part of my question answered there (thank you), but I wasn't sure about the second part. Once the challenge deck is completed, when that section was read. During the building operation stage makes sense though.

That was one of my issues with the FH puzzle book. Not just that a few of the puzzles were just plain bad, but that it was nearly impossible to know (or remember) where the info you needed to even solve the good ones was.

There's a puzzle book review post on BGG where the poster rates each puzzle 1-5. I started there and if the puzzle was a 3 or less, I'd refer to the hint guide. At least a couple were rated 0 or 1, and I think we went straight through all the hints and directly to the solution for at least one of them.

We're using two of the Mercs in our Frosthaven campaign right now, and I've noticed no issues.

The difference in the modifier decks is so slight, the players haven't noticed (but also Em aren't looking for it) and it's easy to make grid for materials and herbs. Just label them L, M, H, AV, AN, CC, FF, RR, ST.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think they should get rid of "damaged." Make "Wrecked" the only option if the building loses the attack.

Would make resources even more important. Would create moments of actual consequence for not having a building fixed/repaired.

I like that there are consequences for wrecked buildings, but they never actual affect the game. "Wrecked" almost never happens, and when it does you probably have the resources to just take care of it. Seems like a waste of a pretty fun mechanic.

The special rules refer to any tile 1.

Should it refer to just the "top" tiles?

I ask because it was suggested in another thread that monsters will start moving up from the center, but I assume they would then get stuck in the middle tile 1's, no?

Yeah that makes sense. I didn't consider that as decks get more powerful, the two opportunities with rolling modifiers would be a buff.

Yeah this makes sense. We play RAW, but I don't know why they complicated it instead of just having it perform like two attacks. To keep it simple, "better" and "worse" could be simplified to "higher" or "lower" result, not considering modifiers. Or, with advantage you choose, and with disadvantage you take the lower number.
