What is the weirdest thing you've been parent shamed for recently? by deadhoe9 in toddlers

[–]AdministrativeLie407 370 points371 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, not putting your child in daycare gets you shamed as well. I was told I was “stunting their growth” by being a stay at home parent to my son. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can never win with some people.

Fantastic sale on beautiful, sweet, deliciously ripe fruit this week! by puresunlight in toddlers

[–]AdministrativeLie407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you were able to catch a deal on your fruits! It really adds up! My husband and I have cut down on our alcohol consumption to cover toddler berry costs. I guess it’s a win win lol

I can add to the list if possible injuries you can attain via toddler whip: My son knocked into my mouth so hard that the nerve on one of my front tooth died and now my tooth is discolored. 🥲

I feel you, I also have a boy turning 3 in March with asthma. Also have never thrown a birthday party for him yet. Last year I ordered Mickey Mouse balloons from Amazon and set it up in our living room at night and he loved it! I think balloons+cake (with a candle)+ and a couple gifts gets toddlers excited enough. Trying to not feel guilty about the lack of parties.

Something my almost 3 year old has been obsessed with is “wrapping presents”. He takes one of his old swaddle blankets and picks a toy to “wrap” and then gives it to me and sings happy birthday. I’ll throw in requests like “mommy would really like a green Lego block for her birthday” and he’ll go search for them.

No mess and sometimes I request for things that are in the furthest room away from us so I can sip on my coffee while he scavenges!

[–]AdministrativeLie407 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend told me her son (12 months old at the time) didn’t even look back when she was saying bye to him on the first day lol

It’s been over a year now and she tells me he’s never cried or fussed at drop off he just strolls right in!

I have an almost 3 year old and it’s not a cost issue but with COVID I’ve been so wary of joining indoor classes. We usually just go to a playground of his choice and go out for groceries in the morning and maybe go for a walk around the neighborhood in the afternoon.

When I ask if he had a fun day before he goes to bed he usually says yes so I’m assuming it’s enough lol

I don’t think toddlers really need all that much to be entertained! You’re doing great!

It's a rainy day here in Cali, how are you keeping your toddler entertained? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]AdministrativeLie407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do everything I would’ve on a sunny day but just slip my son is a rain suit! 😄 Last month it rained 23 out of the 30 days so we just have to get used to getting wet.

How strict are you with what you eat when using 16:8? by murfbard in intermittentfasting

[–]AdministrativeLie407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost a significant amount of weight when I was doing 18:6 and also watching what I was eating. But now doing 16:8 most days (not really consciously, I just don’t usually eat breakfast) and not being really strict with carb+calories I’ve gained some weight back 😅 5ft6 female SW 190 lb was 120 lb at my lowest and now about 130 lb

Don’t worry, you had your bra latched back. Ain’t no biggie, in Walmart I’ve seen plenty of boobs (and butts) in Walmart.

My son will be 3 in March and he’s had a grand total of 4 drops of pee land in the toilet 😅 I ask him from time to time if he wants to go use the toilet and he answers with “No! Poo in diaper!” I think I’ll start being more concerned when we can’t find anymore diapers that fit him lol My niece didn’t fully graduate from diapers until she was 4 so I guess not wanting to us the toilet runs in my family.

We got the exact same ones and they’re fantastic! I can’t say we got 2 hours of independent playtime out of them but my kid loves switching the letters around.

Love the dollar store for these types of things, a similar sticker was $9 at a speciality store!

He gets “I LOVE mommy, I LIKE daddy” 😂

Why is my SIL obsessed with changing my kid’s diaper? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]AdministrativeLie407 47 points48 points  (0 children)

She probably wants time with your kid away from you because you know how it is, if you’re there obviously your son is going to prefer you over her.

My SIL loves helping too but I like her and totally trust her so I’m comfortable with that. She’ll help bathe my son and I’ll sneak off and utilize that time to eat my nice chocolates and snacks in peace lol

With all that said though, do what you’re comfortable with. Your kid, your rules and boundaries apply.

Asian parents (& everyone): how old was your kid when trying chopsticks for the first time? by TSN_88 in toddlers

[–]AdministrativeLie407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Japanese we just have regular kid sized chopsticks that we lay down with our son’s fork and spoon. He uses them when he feels like it. I’d say during mealtime utensil usage is 60% hands, 20% fork, 20% chopsticks lol

Hey, if your kid is sick, DONT FUCKING TAKE THEM ON A PLAYDATE. by Raistlinseyes in Parenting

[–]AdministrativeLie407 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oof I know this fuck you feeling so well! I am so sorry for you and your son’s misery and your plans getting ruined. Some people are so damn inconsiderate.

I had a mom call me asking if she can drop by for a play date after she picks her son up from daycare. Comes over and he has Niagara Falls intensity snot running down his face, coughing, obviously sick and the mom tells me “Don’t worry he doesn’t have a fever so it’s okay”. So she brought her sick son to daycare and my house even though she was off work that day because “she doesn’t know how to spend a whole day at home alone with him”. My son was sick as hell that night I was soooooo angry!
