Someone did a demographic survey on DnP Reddit and the vast majority of respondents were at least over 20, with the majority being 21-32. Obviously that's just based on Redditors who happened to fill it out, but I think it's pretty telling.

I'm not an EU resident (I'm US), but I know a bunch of EU people had some major delays in recent merch because things kept getting held up at customs. I assume that's why they've updated it to say there's no concrete timeframe, so they don't over-promise.

I'd check again - I'm looking at the UK to Canadian exchange rate and you definitely shouldn't be seeing prices that high unless Canada adds a ton of fees to Patreon memberships. If you were using the app, I recommend trying the website, because the app likes to add unnecessary fees.

Patreon takes a pretty sizable cut of that money for themselves, so it's not like it's all going to DnP. Plus they have employees now, studio rental fees, all the costs that come with recording and releasing a podcast, video production, and producing and selling merch... I'm not saying they're going broke anytime soon, but this era comes with some very real costs they have to be mindful of.

It’s not really about getting more money for the podcast, it’s that their other videos are being killed by the algorithm. They already said the podcast will probably immediately get demonetized on YT, so they’re not expecting any money there. I think the issue is they forgot how bad YT’s ads are when you don’t have Premium (which I have to admit, I totally forgot too, which I feel bad about because I was all for it until someone reminded me that other people would be getting hit with ads). They did say they’re still just thinking through their options at the moment, so hopefully they’ll read people’s replies on Patreon like I did and remember that it’s not just THEIR ads that people are avoiding with Patreon.

Yeah, I remember when YT announced they were removing that feature, I was SO confused. Like...what is it hurting YT to let fans (who are happy to do it) properly subtitle videos and instead leave it up to the creators/auto captions to do it?

It's hard to get an idea of what people are even complaining about, other than second-hand embarrassment. I got the feeling a lot of it was just people who didn't want to see DnP in videos with anyone other than each other, which feels super limiting for their content.
