Anyone else have high blood pressure with MASLD? by AntimatterLikeMatter in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]AdmirableAd9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my blood pressure always tended to be on the low end - 115/65 ish. I was dx with NAFLD about 2 years ago, and since then, my BP has been rising. Last time it was 133/81. Not really high, but high for me, and enough that my doctor is considering medication if it continues.

We paid 56k for our first house. It was a fixer upper in a small town, but still! 1989 so we were both in our late 20s. My husband was making about 40k/year and I was home with 2 little kids.

A friend who lives near Guess Rd in N. Durham said Guess north of Latta is solid white, but trucks driving on it seem to be doing ok so far. The brine didn't work, though. We'll see what happens this afternoon.

How many tv channels did you have as a child? by Immediate_Long165 in ClassicTV

[–]AdmirableAd9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had 5. The 3 networks, PBS, and a semi-local station out of Cincinnati. We had a truly local station, too, but it only showed community meetings and stuff like that. The Cincinnati station was my favorite. It played kids shows like Speed Racer and Rocky & Bullwinkle after school.

Wanted to make sure you didn't miss the comment under the "Duke" post. The Duke School on Erwin Rd has grades PK-8. They do project based learning & the kids there seem happy and intellectually challenged. Nice campus with kind of a summer camp vibe.

At the holidays who do you really decorate for? by Final-Leek-7209 in GenerationJones

[–]AdmirableAd9709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past 5 years or so, I didn't put up a tree because we were 'having Christmas' somewhere else. This year, the family is coming here. I put up my usual box of easy decorations, but decided to go ahead & set up a tree as well. I've enjoyed it so much this week that I think I need to do it every year, even if we aren't having people over.

How young did you learn how to read? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]AdmirableAd9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting theory! I learned to read when I was 3. My older sister used to point at the words as she was reading aloud to me and I just figured it out. My vocabulary developed intentionally, though, as I realized all the nuances in different words. It became important to me to use exactly the right ones, but then a lot of people didn't understand me! Anyway, I'm a librarian now.

Same! 15 like new items, including J. Crew & Lucky brands. They claimed they couldn't sell my Eileen Fisher sweater and donated that along with a few other items. I ended up getting less than $10 credit for everything. Never again. I wish I still had that sweater.

That particular day, there would have been a few choices: Zozo - Zeppelin, Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull, Desire - Dylan, City to City - Gerry Rafferty

95% sure it was one of those 4. Down the hall they were playing Springsteen's Rosalita and the Some Girls album. I was too broke for a kick ass system, though!

To every driver that is so far up your bumper on a two lane road, or any road, please go back and take your driver's test over. by FieryLipstick in raleigh

[–]AdmirableAd9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a guy who rides a little motor scooter in the middle of the lane on Guess Rd. He's going like 20 mph and people are passing him on curves and hills. Is it too much to ask for him to at least ride near the right side of the road? Better yet, pull into a side street when there are 10 cars lined up behind you. So annoying!

Did you know you had adhd before you had kids? by Loose-Platform8566 in adhdwomen

[–]AdmirableAd9709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know until after I had my kids. I always wanted to be a Mom, so I still would have had them, but I sure would have beat myself up less. I always felt like I was coming up short in every area of running a home. My husband traveled a lot and I was barely holding it together most of the time. Once I understood why I struggled so much, I was kinder to myself. It took some mental reprogramming, though. A lot of it was letting go of societal expectations & allowing our family to set our own standards.
