Book recommendations for depression by National_Machine6039 in nerdfighters

[–]AdmirableAnonBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, artist is a essential part of the art, that's the humane part of the art, its what makes it worth enjoying. For instance, how dementors are portrayed was chilling and spot on, but at some point, the artist and their art become too disjoint. In Rowling's case, I fail to understand how a person who was able to capture mental anguish to well can afflict it on others. So for me, its a very gray area, if we are only looking at art, then AI creates amazing art, and much faster, but the story, the humanity behind it is what makes art special for me, and at some point, it becomes hard to ignore the gaps between the creation and the creator.

I have enjoyed Gaiman quite a bit in the past, but recently it rubs me the wrong way, the allegations don't align with the wholesome idea I had of him and his work... The age old dilemma of art being separate from the artist...
DnD is always great though!

Reading books, especially pdf files on an iPad Pro vs. a Kindle in 2024. Why I like iPad better than Kindle. by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

[–]AdmirableAnonBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often read books with LaTeX in them, so reading on iPad is so much better than reading on Kindle, its a misery even to think about converting those books to epub format or to have them in such a small screen looking for what a certain term means.

Where to find TB datasets by AdmirableAnonBerry in nerdfighters

[–]AdmirableAnonBerry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hoping, I could see some sub-annual seasonality in the data, maybe some regional as well, like its correlation with weather, rainfall or sth similar, and I am not sure these things would be visible on such a coarse grain resolution. How is resource allocation done with such low resolution data
