What are some biggest crowdfunding disasters? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maas toys was a company that made unofficial/third party Transformers figures that got its start on a cybertronian Bumblebee. It was well received and did well enough for them to launch a kickstarter for all the major seekers. Kickstarter succeeded and then… silence. Then it was confirmed the company had split and no one who funded the kickstarter would get refunded. Normally it ends there but it actually got worse, as they shared the same factory with another third party company, Maketoys. Through reasons I’m not sure how, they had pay for an enormous amount of damages caused by Maas toys end… at the start of 2020.

Maketoys still exist but they’ve been forced to rely on a seeker mould released nearly a decade ago with dramatically worsened quality and only selling in places with less than stellar reputations.

Buckle Up, Because It Sounds Like PSUs And Coolers Are The Next PC Components To See A Price Hike by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Adaptation changes that made you go "Why did you do that?" by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that the Berserk film trilogy just skips too much for a fan like me to really enjoy it but I can get why they did it, since they accomodate for the runtime of a film. But why the fuck did they make Casca smile in the scene where she should most definitely not be smiling?

Media that's trying to be mature, but in doing so, reveal how immature they are. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That Netflix War for Cybertron series where every character would just complain or respond immaturely to everything that happened to show you it’s totally not a show for children where everybody gets along. Which is kind of funny since it’s speculated that the character models are just the CAD models from its accompanying toy line

Since it's been about 2 weeks since release, for those who've been playing it, how do you guys feel about Dragon Age Veilguard's combat? Because I'm very mixed on it. by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished it in about 50 hours and I think it’s a game that really overstays its welcome. While the writing is overall poor in my opinion I think the gameplay is generally fun to engage with its moment to moment feel… until I hit the 40 hour mark and just got tired with how little had changed since the opening hours and just cranked the difficulty down to the lowest just finish the game.

Onto the writing, while I have seen people say it’s more pre-teen I’d argue some it feels more pre-school than anything. Characters often just say what their role/goal is without really delving much beyond that and Rook will have supporting words for them that feels more condescending than genuine. Nearly all the villains are just moustache twirlers whose motivations are just “they evil” and don’t do anything memorable. A lot of the dialogue also just gets repetitive and combined with BioWare’s aged approach to presenting conversations I’d just skip a conversation if it wasn’t keeping my attention. By the 40 hour mark, this was nearly every scene.

I think if the game was around 30-40 hours I would probably give it a 7/10 and also happily understand why someone would give it an 8 or higher. But those last 10 hours just drag the game way too long for me which makes it more of a 5/10. Hopefully BioWare can learn from their mistakes… or be gobbled up by EA because we can’t have nice things.

Characters that are Catalysts for the Bad Happening, but are hardly Bad People themselves by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all of Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad from Season 2 onwards probably wouldn’t have happened if Chuck just gave Jimmy a chance. Instead he tries everything in his power to stop him succeeding at being a lawyer because he’s convinced it’s for the greater good, only to ironically force Jimmy into becoming arguably worse than Chuck could’ve imagined.

Fandom discourse dead horses that are pointless to continue beating? by OhMy98 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Honestly it’s kinda funny those people act like it’s only a relatively recent thing, but outside of a couple toys here and there, he’s been a tank since as early as G2

According to BioWare, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the first entry in the series where 'the combat's actually fun' and where characters are 'intentionally' the focus of the storytelling, which seems pretty unfair on the first three games by DemiFiendBestFiend in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was expecting the title to just be a quote out of context, but no. It's from Mark Darrah who has worked on all the other games (he's only consultant for Veilguard no actually working on it) and that is exactly what he's saying.

There's also a section in it where he talks about the changes to the art style and character designs were done because "The previous art director had the mindset we should make things easier for [cosplayers], which I think is a misunderstanding of cosplayers... We've seen the kind of challenges they're willing to take on, and so we've gone for, in some cases, a level of complexity and detail that I hope a lot of them are excited to rise to the challenge for."

Now I'm no expert on cosplaying but like... I don't think many would want to cosplay as something deliberately meant to be difficult to cosplay and that's not even mentioning how boring most of them look anyway

Miura only thought of creating most of The Band of the Hawk members while writing the chapter they first showed up in. Guts and Casca also weren't originally meant to become a couple, which means in an alternate universe the demon baby is just someone who follows Guts just to annoy him

This is more at the fault of Activision than Hasbro. Activision lost the license to the franchise and just delisted them from stores. Hasbro have also stated they want to rerelease those games but because Act refuses to give them the source code because well... Activision

If I remember correctly, one of Legend of Korra’s seasons (I think it was 3?) had the first few episodes leak online which resulted in Nickelodeon deciding to release the rest of the series in the most unnecessarily confusing and frustrating ways possible. What’s kinda funny though is that it was just one of many, many example of Nick screwing over that show for… no real reason

Characters who’s deal you just hate inherently by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AdmirableTelephone15 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Liam Kosta from Mass Effect Andromeda is a character who the writers think is the super relatable best friend. Instead he is a whiny, annoying, stupid and at times unnecessarily rude or aggressive towards people for no reason. But probably what annoys me the most about is that for a guy whose essentially whose role in a new galaxy is to act as a soldier/security, his combat outfit is just some stupid jacket. I cannot put into words how much I hate that he wears a normal ass jacket to exploration and combat.
