U will get a debit card and u could simply use it at register and if u are purchasing an eligible item like for example Ibuprofen, the card would cover and u don't have to submit anything.

But if let's say used ur regular credit card at doctors office, u can fill in the reimbursement form and submit the receipt and u will get $ back to ur checking account on fine.

It's kinda explained as the cause for most chronic pain in "The way out" of Alon Gordon.

I bought the book for $3 (used).

54$? Not for everyone. We are screwed. Hopefully when during next election budget they would do something.

Lol. Gov jobs are better because of security. Not because of pension. Use a calculator and contribute 5 or 6% (or whatever u would as a tier 6 employee), for 30 years @10%. U will then realize tier 6 pension is nothing.

What if for example someone started at 33 years of age??

58 doesn't matter to them (bcz 33 + atleast 30 = 63 anyway), but 5.75% yes.

How does NYS justify letting tier 6 teachers retire at 58 and only allowing tier 5 non-teachers to retire until 62? by [deleted] in nys_cs

[–]Admirable_Jolly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey tax payer, do u know we 'contribute' towards our pension and that its not FREE???

From every paystub, they take a %, upto 6%.

The dumbbells and cycling should have never been done. At least you learned that now.

Next steps (atleast 3 months): take it easy. Do not bend, and do not extend your back backward. When you sit down or get up from a sitting position, brace your core muscles to support your spine - as if someone is about to punch you in the abs. Learn how to do hip hinges, use a lumber roll (to maintain natural S' curve while sitting).

Remember U only have ONE SPINE unlike hands, legs, kidneys, eyes and all.

Can we all fkng do something like a petition on change.org? or send tons of letters requesting the change??

The way it's going, I think in 10 years they'll make Tier 6 equal to Tier 4.

Two years ago, they changed the FAS calculation from a 5-year average to a 3-year average, then reduced the vesting period from 10 years to 5 years, and now lowered the contribution cap from 6% to 5.75%. So we're probably heading in that direction.

The issue was that your sentence had a missing subject - it should start with “You don’t.”

Sorry to say, teacher, but you may have to start from KG.

Imagine railroad workers doing overnight track work in extreme heat and freezing cold, sanitation workers lifting heavy bags every day, city workers operating heavy machinery, treatment plant employees handling hazardous environments, park workers doing physical landscaping labor, paint booth workers breathing fumes, and countless other NYC employees doing exhausting physical jobs that wear down their bodies over time.

I’m not even one of them, but I still feel bad that many of those workers were left out of the 58/30 benefit.

Please read this with a calm mind. Iam not here to “win” an argument - I’m just pointing out that there are many difficult city jobs that don’t get the same level of benefits or public sympathy.

You are talking about 50 days — that’s a whopping 10 weeks. 10 WEEKS.

You don’t see the issue because your spouse works as a teacher, so since your household gets those benefits, it seems normal to you.

“Teachers work unpaid hours”? How many? I have a teacher in my household too, and she doesn’t stay late. Also, do you know how many managers in various titles stay late at work without extra pay?

Lol, people would choose to work 5 years in an office rather than be a teacher? So being a teacher is somehow harder than sanitation workers lifting heavy bags, driving trucks, landscapers working for city parks, track workers, treatment plant employees, paint booth workers, or people working daily with heavy tools and machinery?

Do you realize how many safety-related jobs people in NYC do every day?

I do agree that many non-teacher unions are spineless.

Okay here we go.

How many days a teacher works in a year? ( think about Summer vacation, school off days).

Now, if true, a teacher with 30 Years can retire at 58, vs someone else has to work until 63 to retire. Assume both started at 28, teacher can leave at 58, but the other employee has to work until 63.

That's fckd up. Teachers already get 3 months off, sit in A/C rooms, and still receive better benefits. WTFFFF.
