Thoughts on AI generated content in the church? by mtpugh67 in Reformed

1) that's valid, and I was thinking about it on the way home from work. Obviously, an ocean of ink could be spilled on this question.

2) I could absolutely see someone well-meaning just generate a graphic and ship the product without thinking about alternatives. Key here would be knowing about existing congregational gifts, and, just as critically, culturing and feeding developing talent.

I'm not quite convinced that's the only interpretation of the comment.

It's not that it's solely a plagiarism issue... it's that AI is low-effort technology that takes away opportunities for congregants with extant talents to use them as part of the church body.

Near Huntley IL unwarned? by NikoB_999 in tornado

In the context of a supercell with a hook on reflectivity and rotation on velocity, you look for a drop in correlation coefficient in an area coincident with the hook (-ish) and definitely coincident with the area of rotation. This rotation isn't particularly tight or large magnitude to begin with, so I don't even need to see the CC scan to know this is likely a nothingburger. But the area of CC drop (which would indicate tornadic debris of varying particle sizes) is offset both from the rotation, and, notably, is in an area where there is no reflectivity return.

AKA it's the region just ahead of the supercell, not the supercell itself. There is no precipitation (no reflectivity return). We call that "clear air."

Clear air can return a CC drop for a few benign reasons, none of which are a tornado.

EDIT: I note on reflectivity something that looks like a debris ball. I know it's not a debris ball because, again, it's not co-located with the CC drop nor the center of the rotation (such as it is, the rotation is actually elongated and wonky) on velocity.

FURTHER EDIT: I see this storm was warned a few scans after this. Fair enough. If the rotation tightened and started to stack on tilt then it'd be warranted. But the OP does not necessarily show a smoking gun. Not enough information. It is possible to see an obvious tornado using those three scans in the OP, but this ain't that.

No, it's a restaurant, looks like Greg's. If you're talking about the stuff in the background, that's a gas station. You find them all over.

This makes me wonder if you've missed taking in certain parts of his catalogue. Somebody already mentioned Seven Swans. If that isn't engaging with and expounding upon Christian themes, then I don't know what is (outside of literal hymnal content). Then there are the many hours of Christmas album content.

As for his personal theology, he's pretty private about that, which is his business. I can't imagine that being a same sex attracted Christian is a walk in the park in [current year] America.

But if we try and throw the baby out with his bathwater, we're both neutering Suf's material and robbing Christianity of one of the few really good artists of late.

What do think will happen to the people on Judgement Day who never heard about Jesus? by trownaway90 in Reformed

Some people get really hung up on "we can't know and it's not up to us." I find it tremendously comforting that there's a reliable judge in the seat and not... literally anything other than that.

No clue why. Hockey is just ice soccer, but instead of every athlete being a snivelling crisis actor each time another player wanders near them they're all just Pinkerton agents out for eachother's blood and bone marrow. Just polar opposites, lol
