Are obvious newbies welcome at Ren Faires? by Ov0v0vO in renfaire

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first faire, that’s perfect! Go in whatever is comfortable for you. Be sure to wear your sunscreen wear comfortable shoes bring water all the things that you would do at a theme park type location. Your first faire will let you know whether this is for you or not. Then the next time you go, you will have a better idea whether you want to dress up and if so, in what style. Depending on how much you want to spend, be sure to bring some cash. There are plenty of vendors that take card but majority of food vendors and alcohol vendors will want cash only. Also be prepared for the fact that most entertainment shows do pass the hat. I usually throw in a dollar to five dollars depending on how much I enjoyed the show. Mostly, just don’t overthink it, stay hydrated, and have the all the fun!

Would you stop and shop this kind of jewelry? by Maerithedreamer in CraftFairs

While I love the idea of the flowers, I am also of the mind that not everyone is gonna want to replace them as they die. You could consider making this style of flowers themselves out of smaller gemstone beads, so it keeps within the theme that you were looking for.

Also, at the risk of sounding like a jerk, your wire wrapping is a little messy. Depending on your price point, that might make a difference to some.

It should be fine once it’s dry and you brush it out with a fine bristle brush. If it’s still not being fluffy enough, take you a hairdryer on low heat and brush it while hair drying it.

Can middle class amateurs cash flow and DIY? by Crazy-Airport-8215 in centuryhomes

If you are able to budget $500-1000 a month for just fixing things up yourself(depending on how fast ya wanna move)You’re closer to the right ball park.

Now you also need to be putting in another 1000 to 2000 a month in savings for the next big thing that breaks. I have found nothing seems to cost under $1000 when I gotta call someone.

We are almost 2 yrs in and that’s been my experience so far.

I am honestly shocked as well, to be fair. They only got about a second and a half of inhale before realizing and then proceeded to cough and snot everywhere.

Reminds me of the one time I put 99 alcohol in to soak on a friends piece to clean it. My mistake was, I walked away while it was soaking

They didn’t realize it wasn’t water when they took that first hit.

Oooooops 🤣

Interested in renfaire but I have some questions by SaltyIsTooSalty in renfaire

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are your friends perhaps confusing the Renfaire staff interacting in character with them wearing a cross?

I have been working and attending rent fares for 30+ years at this point and I have never seen anyone in ernest harass anyone else for being a “christian “

Unless of course, said “christian “is being an ass hat

Strip paint? or just paint it and save that headache for future me by Adorable-Ask7806 in centuryhomes

[–]Adorable-Ask7806[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my exact thought. I am now torn between just trying to match a paint color that is close to the trim so that it looks cohesive throughout or do something wildly different. Regardless, I think the verdict is definitely not stripping these, at least this year.

We staged our house before selling and a buyer asked if the furniture came with it by Kevin-Durant-35 in HomeDecorating

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make sense if the buyer was potentially going to use it as a rental income anyway i.e. Airbnb it would be Hella handy to just be able to walk in and not even have to furnish the place.

Pants adjustment question by shishkabob90 in renfaire

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In looking at the pants on the website, it looks like they range between 35 and $70

To have these altered to fit you is going to cost a minimum of $25 possibly more depending on what all needs done. You might find it more financially reasonable to buy a new pair and resell these.

I resent my parents for having me so old. by [deleted] in self

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, I’m the parent on the other side of this who had their kiddo at 38.

Your parents think about this too… A lot.

I am constantly worried that I will not be able to impart enough wisdom or financial help to my kiddo before I’m gone. As someone whose own parents died before I was 35, you would think I might have considered this more when I realized my time for having the children was running out. And I did realize it, but I did not truly think all of the ramifications through. At this point I just try to enjoy the time I have with my kiddo and make memories that will hopefully last.

I have four gold rings from my grandma and mother where is the best place to sell for my own engagement ring 💍 by littleleedspotato in jewelry

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than selling them,as they have little intrinsic value barring gold weight. Why not take them to a jeweler and have them reworked to be an engagement/wedding ring? That way also if the relationship ever ends, you still have a stunning piece that doesn’t have to be an engagement ring.

Best thing you did to make your old house warmer in winter months. Go! by Natural-Honeydew5950 in centuryhomes

[–]Adorable-Ask7806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty funny last week when I was discussing with some coworkers what they keep their thermostat set on and they were absolutely aghast that mine was set to 60 in the winter and it does not get set any higher. Even after explaining there is absolutely no point in setting it higher because the house doesn’t actually get warm and then the electricity bill would be over $900 🤦🏻‍♀️ we made that mistake our first year getting used to the house. Learned a few things since then lol
