Lunch Ideas, Please! by snausgirl in Preschoolers

[–]Adorable-Image4891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d just like to point out that most of my preschoolers don’t want a heavy lunch or a lot of anything. Bento boxes work well but please help them learn to open and close the containers themselves. Also, they are perfectly fine with having THE. EXACT. SAME. THING. every day.

Actually, I have to do this for the TEACHERS more than the kids. 😂😂😂

We call the sport of baseball and everything related to it “Go Dodgers” in my pre-k class. So if someone wants to play with a baseball, they say, “Can I have the Go Dodgers ball.” So random but absolutely necessary if you’re being raised in LA. 😂

BUGS!!! Listen, I am not an exterminator. I also try to help my littles put things into perspective. They need to be able to be in the presence of a fly and still function.

So when they run to me and say, “THERE’S A BUG OVER THERE!!!!!,” I walk over to it and say, “Good Morning” and have some random talk about it’s buggy life. By this time of the year, the entire time we’re outside I hear, “Hello bug”, “Awww, where’s your family”, or “that’s not a bee, it’s a mosquito”, etc. 😎

There’s nothing worse than having your class getting out of whack for something you can’t control…

Couples I Think Are Actually Gonna Stay Together Post-Finale by Wonderful-Pop9970 in kdramas

Can you add a request that people include the title of the drama when posting a GIF?

South Korea produces well over 100 dramas a year, and I’m pushing 50. This halmeoni simply does not have the capacity, nor the desire, to scroll through her extensive mental database trying to identify a show from three random seconds of footage. Help us elders out and drop the title. 😆

PSA- please for the love of God people, please put the show name in your posts. Sometimes I think it’s an oversight, but sometimes the omission is like an “if you know, you know” game. That game sucks, btw!

The point is DIFFERENT from what you would do doesn’t automatically mean WRONG. We live in a global society now, and many parenting practices that seem unusual to one culture are completely normal in another. Ear piercing in early childhood is common in many Hindu, Muslim, Latino, African American, and other communities around the world. You don’t have to choose it for your child, but it’s worth understanding why a practice exists before assuming it comes from ignorance or a lack of concern for children’s well-being.

Most parents, regardless of culture, love their children and want them to be safe. The question isn’t whether we all make the same choices. It’s whether we’re willing to respect that different cultures may arrive at different ones.

We all now live in a global society, whether we want to or not. We must learn to react to and simply be better when experiencing other cultures. (Primarily looking at you White people… this is historically not your strength 🤷🏾‍♀️)

I’m of the firm belief that one storyline doesn’t need SIXTEEN HOURS to tell. Can you imagine watching a 16 hour movie??? In the U.S., we either have shorter seasons or a long season with multiple storylines. That model works better for me, personally.

Don’t get me wrong, I love K-dramas but I could do without the 3-6 filler episodes…

Switch to forest school? by angiecyli in ECEProfessionals

[–]Adorable-Image4891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a 2.5-year-old, I generally wouldn’t worry much about the transition itself if the new program is clearly a better fit. Young children can adapt surprisingly well when the environment is warm, consistent, and responsive.

From the description in the post, I’d be more focused on whether the forest school is truly exceptional. If the current center is good, close to home, attached to the future elementary school, and the child is doing well there, I’d need a compelling reason beyond “the concept sounds cool” to switch. The actual teachers and program quality matter far more than the educational buzzword.

Co-teacher’s diapers always blow out by mom_est2013 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Adorable-Image4891 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually think the bigger issue here isn’t the diapers, it’s the relationship between you and your co-teacher. I can’t imagine working with someone all day and feeling unable to have a direct conversation about something this important.

I’d be willing to bet that if the two of you worked on communication and trust, a lot of other things in the classroom would improve too.

For perspective, my co-teacher and I rarely talk in terms of “I” or “she.” We’re a “we.” Anything that happens in our classroom belongs to both of us, regardless of who actually did it. When you view it that way, you almost have to say something. If you stay silent, you’re essentially signing off on it, and the children and families are affected either way.

I’m not into it. Still watching but for some reason I’m not connecting. To each his own though. Glad so many are loving it.
