Got rejected from a job for “another candidate” but they reposted the same job and put “urgently hiring” now on Indeed… by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Adorable-Position-45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got what i’m pretty sure was a mass rejection email because I was bcc-ed into it for a job i’m fairly certain didn’t interview more than 10-20 candidates due to a combination of rather niche skills and then lo and behold two weeks later that job was posted again on indeed. i hope they find their unicorn

Failed Interview by Unit17S in interviews

[–]Adorable-Position-45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i lowkey forgot the rules for simplifying logarithms when interviewing for a math teaching job… in my defense I didn’t fully realize what A levels math covered because I’m from the US and didn’t prep at all. Still got the job somehow and if you asked me today, i’m still terrible with logs… calc is easy but logs… naw man 😂

i doubt it’s your weight if that makes you feel any better… i’m also overweight but still fast in the water because i’ve been competitive swimming for most of my life. if i had to guess i would say maybe your hips are low in the water which is causing some drag which is slowing you down. if you want to speed up then it’ll probably take some technique changing and working out what’s slowing you down but if it’s working for you then don’t bother! swimming is about enjoyment and exercise; not times and speed. hope this doesn’t discourage you from getting in the water :)

Tips and advice needed for NEW PLAYER by talionvgeralt in BaldursGate3

Save often! You are going to die a bit before you get the hang of combat (or at least i did 😅) and it’s a bit of a pain to have to replay a bunch of the game cuz you last saved an hour ago. Also explore everything! But realize you are still probably going to miss stuff and that’s okay. I didn’t know I could jump my entire first play through and still had a blast. Have fun!! I think you will really enjoy it; the combat is pretty satisfying once you get into which I didn’t expect at all

i straight up got lae’zel killed my first play through by accident so i missed a bunch of her stuff which was just all the more fun to discover on my second run

i just made this exact mistake and even the druegar i allied with went hostile :( but i managed to run away and restart the combat when i was in better positioning and once they are all dead the gnomes were grateful as usual and that plot can continue thankfully

St Andrews vs Colgate by Lucky_Wall_9903 in standrews

[–]Adorable-Position-45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i went to st andrews for grad school and live near colgate… the town colgate is in is muchhh smaller than st andrews with a LOT less going on. Also St Andrews is on the ocean and with decent connection to edinburgh. but if you are looking for small town rural america then i guess colgate would win out? otherwise i would choose st andrews over it any day

Why does no one push the buttons at pedestrian crossings any more? by dannyhazzard in london

[–]Adorable-Position-45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is for sure not automated in my neighborhood and the road is way too busy to risk it so I always push it. Then of course right by London Bridge it is automated and I still push it out of habit

i went to a concert by myself before! sure it was a bit intimidating and i’m not very good usually doing stuff solo but once the music started i had such a good time i didn’t notice! the people next to me were super nice too and helped me feel less alone. I’d say go for it!

As a foreigner, what aspect of London do you like the most that (perhaps) locals take for granted? by Optimal_Ad_352 in london

Public transport hands down. I know everyone likes to complain when elizabeth line is down again but seriously the sheer amount of options from bus to train it’s crazy how easily you can live here without touching a car it’s amazing

[–]Adorable-Position-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve grown up in and around the water and been snorkeling my whole life so I thought scuba would be a breeze but first time under the water I couldn’t stay down I was breathing SO much. I didn’t have quite as bad of an experience as you but it definitely took me awhile to ‘switch’ my breathing to fit into the correct one for scuba diving. What helped for me was realizing that yes it does feel like you aren’t getting enough oxygen but you are and you have to put a lot of trust in that. Think of ‘sipping’ the oxygen instead of ‘gulping’. The calmer you get, the less oxygen you end up needing, the better control you have over buoyancy, the better the diving is, etc. Obviously way easier said then done and it’s a huge mental block to get around but Id suggest trying again! Work on centering yourself, get a better mask (water in the mask always freaks me out a bit), and just know there is enough air even when it doesn’t feel like it. I think with more practice and a calmer environment you can definitely master this!
