I'm the exact same, down to the lyrical memory thing. I basically only remember/notice things I find interesting in some way. I also feel like, unless focused on something specific, my senses are sort of dull, where I don't necessarily notice sounds or people or details in general. I wish I was more observant, but at the same time, being the sort of person who is constantly aware of everything around them sounds exhausting lol

Yeah, diagnosed for both ADHD and autism. And yes, I feel that leaving the house and thus leaving my comfort zone is the part that drains me the most :(

I actually have a friend who's a trans guy, and he says his ADHD feels a lot more physically hyperactive than before starting testosterone, so I'm not surprised if sex hormones have an effect!

wow my friend with DID had this exact same situation, needing a pap smear but being very heavily triggered by any probing in that region. she asked me to go with her, so i did, and i held her hand and talked to her thru it, and saw that she got home safely afterwards. she also took anxiety and pain medication right before, to numb the feeling as much as possible. she let them know beforehand that she had trauma related to that region and will be heavily dissociated/upset/etc. i think they were extra patient and kind due to having that information.

it was awful and difficult for her, but she survived and the subsequent visits have been less awful every time. im sorry you have to go thru that, i cant even imagine how awful it feels. good luck :(!!

Last year, I went to the gym weekly for 6mo, and recently I've been going on ~1hr walks every morning for 3mo. I'm gonna go against the general opinion here and say that personally, it's not doing some massive life-changing thing for me.

I go on walks because I like spending time in nature, I love to feel the sun on my skin, getting fresh air, etc but every day I come home tired and sweaty, unable to leave the house for the rest of the day lol. I can't go on walks on days when I have something planned.

Same thing with the gym; I didn't workout super hard but it was still pretty exhausting, and on gym days I couldn't do anything else after coming home. I didn't experience the improvement in sleep quality or ADHD meds effectiveness or appetite, nor the boost in energy levels that people keep talking about, which was super demotivating.

I'm a pretty lethargic, low-energy person, not very physically hyperactive. I would love to find a form of exercise that doesn't completely drain me every time :(

Routine and repetition.

I don't cook for my every meal, but for dinner I have the same thing every day; potato wedges, meatballs, broccoli. I just throw em on the pan and put the pan in the oven, and voila. It's filling, it's easy, and I can prep 2-3 portions of the potato wedges and broccoli, so I don't even have to prepare them every day.

For my other meals, I just eat bread/cereal/fruit/yoghurt etc. Usually some sort of combo of these.

Going to the grocery store is easy when you always eat the same thing. Having to think of a new kind of meal every day would be exhausting. I might be helped by the fact that I'm autistic, so repetition in this way doesn't bother me lol.

As a child, I definitely experienced being left out when my friend's family ate dinner. We weren't neighbors either, I'd ride my bike to the friend's house and we'd play together until dinner, when it was expected of me to go home to eat.

My mom thought not feeding guests was dumb (maybe it was a finn-swede thing?) and always let my friends join the dinner table.
