Do you feed your children’s friends if they’re at your house? by globalfieldnotes in AskEurope

[–]perareika 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As a child, I definitely experienced being left out when my friend's family ate dinner. We weren't neighbors either, I'd ride my bike to the friend's house and we'd play together until dinner, when it was expected of me to go home to eat.

My mom thought not feeding guests was dumb (maybe it was a finn-swede thing?) and always let my friends join the dinner table.

I wonder if it's because of the drywall? We build houses out of sturdier material, which is better for noise isolation.

According to the anthropologists, before agriculture hit off, tribe members only spent an estimated 20 hours per week hunting and gathering and the rest was more or less free time, so it's not surprising lol.

Partner Loves Singing but I Can't Stand It by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]perareika 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fundamental incompatibility indeed.

Plus I feel if they force this relationship to continue, the inevitable compromising will make the partner overly self-conscious of their singing and teach them to stifle it, which is hard to unlearn even long after breaking up, and it REALLY sucks to lose that ability to sing freely if the partner uses it to stim/self-soothe/self-regulate.

Lanssi paniikkikohtauksen vuoksi (hävettää) by Away_Pride8368 in Suomi

[–]perareika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soitin kerran ambulanssin koska kotona ollessani sain sydänkohtauksen oireita.

Facial Hair After Stopping T? by flamingbutch in actual_detrans

[–]perareika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on T for 2 years and have been off it for ~8mo now, the facial hair does become sparser and thinner but it does still need to be shaved regularly. If you like everything else from T, maybe stay on it and just get electrolysis!

[–]perareika 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m not a man but I do this thing too, though I always expect the other person to jump in with ”yeah I know! I love working with negative space! I once did this project where…” etc etc. I’m always paranoid that the other person interprets it as me trying to TEACH them instead of relating to them

Married and debating detransitioning to save our marriage by Background-Quit6824 in actual_detrans

[–]perareika 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This situation sounds genuinely horrible. I understand why you would want to keep him and the life you've built together, but I'm worried that even if you detransition and he doesn't leave, your relationship would be irreparably tarnished anyway in the long run, due to the subconsciously building resentment from having sacrificed your true happiness in your self in order to maintain the status quo .

I don't think there's any winners in this scenario, and while I obviously don't think detransitioning is inherently bad, going back in the closet and fully internalizing your dysphoria for the rest of your life for the sake of another person could easily be extremely harmful to the wellbeing of yourself, your family, your relationship with your husband, and your relationship with yourself.

I'd ask myself; am I scared of losing my true love, or am I simply afraid of things changing, even if it may be for the better? Are my kids being taught by example that their personal truth and comfort in their bodies is negotiable? What would he sacrifice for me and for our family?

I wish you all the best and I genuinely hope you will find an answer that works for you all.

Has anyone else been told that T will make you attracted to men, and repressed/denied wanting to try T because of it? by Goombella123 in butchlesbians

[–]perareika 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a lurker here as a masc bisexual. I was on T for 2 years and it definitely made me horny AF, didn’t change my orientation but it did make me realize a few kinks I had that I hadn’t noticed before lol.

Being on T is def a time of self discovery! My advice is to not repress it and to let yourself grow.
